got PM to show how i adapted my 04 wing to the bedcover. Now made a thread about so everybody can enjoy  :D

i cut the wing in the middle ( some try-out cut to find the exact blade ...) and then cut from each side a piece away so that the total amount would fit the new width ofcourse ...

Took away the foam filling in a piece .

put some plastic foil in and filled with epoxy. This inner mold piece is used for perfect alignment of the 2 halfs.

drilled 2 holes in it and pushed 2 stainless steel tubes in .
In the 2 halfs you remove the foam filling just enough for half the mold and drill a bit ( smaller ) the place for the tubes. Now again with epoxy on all you push the 2 halfs together and let it rest to harden.

The seem , you just tape nicely around and fill it with rubber ( i used as for boats teakdeck. ( just happen to have it by hand :D )

On the pics you can see it but in general if you don't know... don't think you notice it...
And it is as strong as before !:elefant:

Nice work Barry and nice toys in the background too!:D

Thanks for the info...Much appreciated...:) Pics are great...

Barry,
Good job. Great minds think alike. I did this about two years ago and as said above, you need a support. I made one out of a 4"x4" prssure treated lumber. Works good, but even with this, downforce keeps cracking it at the seam. I've had two body shops try to "fix" this, but no sucess. When I get the chance, I'm going to try to plactic weld the seam and then reinforce it with fiberglass. I did the same as you, bar in the center, high density foam and used some aluminum sheet formed to the inner diameter of the wing for support. Still cracks and sorry, but yours will too unless you make a support and figure out how to reinforce the area. Good luck.

Will

haha ! no way man.. did it also years ago and still no signs of anything coming loose or breaking !  Pics are from today
it is even ROE SC bullit proof :elefant: :elefant: :elefant: :elefant:

PS i think it's the epoxy massive inner mold that makes it as stiff as before... i guess even stronger ....

yep, if i had know how much downforce our show-wing gives i would have dumped it right away... :( I have measured it with my scale tricky :D which is now at FLOOR to measure the more recent version wing... but , yeah, i think he has not much time  :dontknow: :p :D

Next will be a REAL wing ... keep you guys posted ! :elefant:

You are very brave for cutting your wing in half like that Barry. I'm glad it came out looking as good as it did with no issues. I am a weenie so I went a different route by cutting the wing at the base at both ends to fit the contour of the cover instead.
