I'm not 100% sure, because I've never had a tail light bulb go out to have to change one! Lol

05 to 06 was the model change/ update

Correct, but the taillights on the 06 models was still the same as the previous models. 07 is when they went to the ugly lights. (I had an '06 Ram before my 10). The headlights changed, but not the tailights until the 07 models.
