06' QC for $23k buy it now???? SCAM???

Here's a good rule of thumb. Don’t ever give out any info when requested. For instance if E-Bay (or any on-line service) sends you a message requesting personal info, NEVER GIVE IT. This is called "phishing", if you click on the link supplied to give your info, look at the address in the URL. You will find most of the time the address is something other then the suite your accessing. E-bay, Pay-pal and any Banking institution will never ask for your personal info, Period! These scum bags are from Nigeria most of the time. A few Nigerians got smart to this stuff back in the late 90's and started making good $. Word spread about how stupid Americans are and now everyone and their mother are doing it. They actually have songs that they sing about how stupid and gullible Americans are!! Only give out your person info if your accessing a site and logged onto the site youself.

What happenes is someone fell for one of those "phising" E-mails and basically handed over their accound info. Then what happens is the person or person who stole the info will post a bunch of products at great prices with the "Buy Now" feature on the victims acount. The seller will the have you contact them via a third party source such as an E-mail unaffiliated with E-Bay. Several people will end up buying the product and getting hosed!! Sometimes there is good deals out there. To protect yourself, insist on going through E-Bay and/or PayPal. If the seller wishes not to, then offer to pay the fee's. Its like insurance, e-bay and PayPal have so many security features built in, you're much safer. Plus if you get scammed, they will reimburse your money (most of the time).

This is a large purchase and I would like to use a third party for this transaction as I want a smooth and safe transaction. We will use eBay as third party. First you will pay the downpayment to eBay and the reminder you can send it directly to me or through eBay also.
I am requesting a $5.500 refundable deposit at the begining of the shipping and the balance to be paid after delivery and inspection. If you are not 100% content with the car you will ship it back on my expense to get your deposit back. I am sure this will not happen, because it is a state of the art vehicle and you will have no reason not to be content with it.
Please note that eBay will hold your deposit of $5.500 until you will confirm that you received the car and you transfered the title into your name.
If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and shipping address, eBay ID so I can register the transaction with eBay asap.
...waiting for your fast answer, Edward & Lisa Hamilton.

Hey guys, I just got this email from this seller. Do you guys think I'm safe here with this buy or not? What should I do?

You have got to be kidding right?

this si one of the oldest ebay scams around, next they will ask you to wire them the money , maybe even a tad more than it is mayb less, and then they will give you some back.

I really hope better sense sets in:D

DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY ON THIS. IT IS A RIPOFF!

Maybe that will make it a little clearer.

Hey Stink, did you read how they want to use pay pal or ebay as the escrow. I just emailed her again to see if I can go see the truck and do the deal in person. So tell me guys what do you think.

Yes, be careful of showing up with a pocket full of cash. Here in Boulder, CO a few months back a person was selling a car online, some people showed up and the seller ended up dead! This really does sounds like a scam.

THE AUCTION IS A SCAM!!!
SCAM ALERT!!!
RUN AWAY!

Mack- I can't imagine the looks you get driving an SRT-10 around Boulder. Do they sell rock insurance? :)

for those that try to buy the truck, maybe this will help:D

Dude, are you kidding me? First off, the seller is European. Read closely how the responce is worded. Also, the "seller" refrences $5,500 in the form of "$5.500" The period is used in European and Middle Eastern Countries instead of the coma (,). I doubt this is an error as its done twice. Also, why the hell would they need your E-bay user ID !!!!!!! E-Bay will not hold your deposit!! Its all Bullsh!t!! Send a copy of this E-mail to E-Bay immidiatly with the User ID info! The truck in no longer listed because the seller's info was jacked and the truck was fraudentually put on the seller's acount. When the seller and/or E-Bay found this, the truck auction was ended.

ibstone, I couldn't agree more.
Furthermore, I saw the EXACT SAME pictures on autotrader from the famous TEMPE DODGE dealer.... (I've informed them already).
They better not mess with vtcoa members hehe:boxing:

Thanks guys, I was just checkin it out. I did get another email from Lissa's husband Ed.lol I wanted to come and do the deal in person and he still wants big money deposit. Here read it for yourselves. I asked for his phone number but he did not give it to me.

If you want to come and pick up it, there is no problem. But before we arrange a meeting we need to complete the vehicle protection program procedure, and a deposit to be sent to ebay as I want this deal to be in exact conformity with eBay rules and policies. If you wish to continue, please send me your ebay username, full name and address, both phone and fax numbers to start the transaction and you will receive all the necessary informations directly from eBay.
Thanks,
Ed.

Thanks,
