I have been starting to have issues between gears.
Seems to be hanging in the gear longer without any added speed.
I watch the RPMs go up but no bite until eventually, it decides to shift.

It is fine as long as I am gentle on the throttle, but no more jumping out in traffic.

I checked the trans fluid today and its where it needs to be.

Ideas? Pop it out and take it to a trans shop for rebuild or just buy another used one?

Not sure how much either will cost, but itll sure cost me some blood, sweat and tears doing it myself.

Based on your comment: "No bite until eventually, it decides to shift"...

When clutch/band debris clogs the TINY screens on the Governors (controlling the valve body), there isn't enough line-pressure (clamping force) created and your transmission will slip on a shift. If that is what's going on, it typically gets worse quite quickly.

Personally, I'd rebuild what you have and put in stronger parts if you plan on adding more engine power in the future.
Or maybe you have more power now and the transmission finally packed it in.

In stock form there is little room for much more than stock power levels with these transmissions. Fortunately they can be built for much higher power levels than a stock engine produces. I've got a 1500 horsepower build in my own truck and it has been happy for years. It's overkill but I lean that way with vehicles anyway.

The o.e.m. transmission in the QC SRT 10 is a 48RE and is THE SAME unit found in trucks that came with 5.9 Cummins diesels (from 2003 to 2007).

PS A fluid and filter change, along with the inner and outer band adjustments won't fix your issue, at all.

Any updates???

No I havent fixed it or even taken the next steps. I have just been driving it gingerly.
But I have been looking at the shops around here in SW Houston to rebuild it and make it last longer.
My truck is stock as far as I know.
I drive this truck daily so having it down requires me finding something else to drive.

mccubbinsjl, I have a built 48re with a PATC triple disc torque converter (factory stall) and a billet flex plate for sale. I recently completed a manual swap on mine and have these parts for sale in the For Sale section. Send me a message and i can give you the specifics on the trans, it has all of the upgrades needed to make the trans bullet proof. I am open to offers and would like to see someone get to use it. The triple disc torque converter is a game changer!

Here is the link to my for sale post. I've added new pictures and updated the details.
