06 Z06 on drag radials

*thinking....* That's why I stay away from them altogether. Those are the only cars that scare me. The regular C6 doesn’t make me tremble at all. I don't even want to antagonize the driver of a Z06. How much do those things go for anyway? Would you fine people see ma as a traitor if I gave up the SRT and got a C6 Z06?

I just saw... About $70K-$72K... For a cramped 2 seater with the possibility of the glass top flying off at high speeds.. And the '06 model is between $65k - $68K.... I dunno; I think it's time to follow some of you guys like NBT and slap on a supercharger along with some other goodies.

Fiberglass me thinks?

It definitely ain't window glass.

A good friend of mine bought a yellow one about 2 or 3 months ago. He hinted around $85K. The demand and thus markup is pretty high these days. Since I let him drag race my Viper a few years ago he let me drive it around briefly. I didnt get to really test it but it def has some get up and go. At Bandimere Speedway during the chevy weekend event he ran a 12.8 at xxx.xx mph (cant remember). The car is completely stock. Gotta remember the elevation of the track is 5860 feet or so...not including density alt which is more then likely over 7500 feet. Using the standard reduction (NHRA) from a mile high to sea level, not including density alt would put his car in the 11.8 range.

You would likely be right since I never know what I'm talking about. I figured a Vette is a Vette, is a Vette. I've heard that problem going on with other year models so I assumed and made an ass outta me and... Wait that's not how it goes. I'll just make like a tree and get outta.... Wait that's not right either.

Yeah that about settles it. What you said is DEFINATELY Greek to me.

Play the video with sound.
It's not a "bone stock" Corvette. At the very least he has a new exhaust on there.

I was parked next to a Z06 at the post office on Friday. It sounded nothing like the car in the vid.

Sorry.

EDIT- I just read about the exhaust 'bypass'. I'm still skeptical.
Hauls ass though. :)

After several (lots) or reruns of the vid...I do think it is stock, but very well prepared and driven wonderfully by a skillful driver. Beware the new Z06...they will eat your lunch, easily. Now if you run NOS, turbo, or are SC'd, then you migh have a shot, but you will also have to drive very well...and that really worries me.

The 427 cubic inch stroked 400 small block is a bad azz motor. I have been racing with small block chevy engines for years. The 400 based engine is a torque monster. These are the baddest stock engines made. Hell they have 12 degree heads and jesel style rockers. I gurantee you with a little modding these engines can produce over 800 hp natuarly aspirated.

The exhaust valve/butterflies are in the tailpipes. They will open an unbaffled part of the muffler when the throttle is +25% and rpm is +3500 in normal mode and +3000 in competition mode.

BTW, here is another vid of a ZO6 having a bad day on the dyno. (sorry if it's a report)

Ohhhhhhhhhh! That was painful...as I have said before...Good tune, ZOOOM, Bad tune, BOOOOOOOOOM!

That Vett is set up for the 1/4 mile better than most cars from the beginning, sense it does have the lower 3.4 Gear ratio. The Vetts engine only being 1.ltr away from the Viper’s, topped with extremely high compression ratio, and multiple engine changes over the past 5 years in order to get there after playing catch up for the past 10… Id say a super prepped LS7 Z06 that has those tires should be able to run that time at that particular elevation.

I guess what Im saying is that, if you design your vehicle to do one thing its going to do it better than it did stock. In 1997 The a Viper GTS made an 11.7 pass completely stock. It must have been a prepped car, but the current Viper has trouble doing any better than that, I think because as the engine has been upgraded it is more of a top end engine now thus taking it a while to reach the popper RPMs causes but such a high gear ratio. But its torque is still amazing compared to all other engines, its simply geared to high for traction or consumer purposes.
