Well guys, the long wait is finally over and I now own a 1 of 1 piece of automotive history! I have mentioned to several about converting my QC to a six speed since I hate (HATE) that damned 48re POS! Well I did it and the results are everything I had hoped for.:burnout: It looks as if it was factory and used all factory parts other than the XMetal shifter with B&M knob. I have put almost 100 miles on her and she is great with the exception of 5th gear not wanting to go in so it's either the shifter or the tranny itself. We'll see soon enough as I need 5th often. I have officially gained 3 MPG on the same to and from work trip!! Pulls like a F'n freight train now. That 48RE is the heaviest aluminum cased tranny I have ever picked up. So I lost a lil weight I am sure, as well as the power of direct drive vs. a torque converter and fluid transmission. The engine compartment looks alot better minus the cabling and dipstick for the Auto. Oh and did I mention the MAN PEDAL?? Oh, and the exhaust is sooo much more noticable shifting gears. Ahhhhhh relief!
I live in the boonies so disregard the driver floormat! LOL!!

I want to give a special Thanks to all who made this possible with their used parts or helping in general with the project!

ArrestMeRed
(JUSTIN) - Bro, glad you are within 45 minutes of me and greatly appreciate your help and Lindsey's coming along most of the time and allowing you to disappear to help me the last time. Since you live next to my favorite local track, I am ready to see what she does!!:burnout:

505's FastestViper ( DOM) Thanks for the help with the master and clutch pedals. Couldn't use either but the thought and help was greatly appreciated bud!

1QCKSRT10 - (MICKEY) This man had a wealth of info from start to finish as well as trading me entire pedal sets as well as his old Centerforce and misc. bolts used to make this happen. His knowledge further inspired me to tear into my 10 and transform her into what I thought our SRT team shoulda done from the jump!

Tooloe -(WADE) Wade helped out considerably months back when I first said to myself " I will do this" by selling a few key interior components to complete the transformation and leave a factory finish!

Anyone else I have called, PMd, or harrassed to help gain a wealth of info needed before tackling a project of this caliber, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!:rock:

You knew we were gonna ask...

Gratz on the conversion! Interested in seeing the results.

How does it pull compared to the auto? And I bet way better on fuel?
Congrats on the finished conversion!

She pulls like the RC freight trains I always read about! I have now gained 3 MPG on the same commute to and from work and even romped it a few times.;)

Looks Great and will Run Better than the Automatic "Slush Box"!!!
The 5th gear issue is most likely the Shifter. I had to slot the shifter holes at the base to be able to even get 2nd and 4th gear on mine. The Quality Control sucks on these, the Threads being tight on the shifter ball are just the beginning of the issues. The shifter design is Great, it does do what it's designed to do go into 3rd. The Quality could have been alot better though.

Yup, my shifter ball is epoxied now after that thread fiasco. Boomer said something about his CNC not being programmed right for the 3/8" 16 thread? I got frustrated and epoxied it. Not the first time I've done it on a car!;)

Congrats on a great project!!:rock::rock::rock:

Maybe look at one of Tony's shifter's, once they go on sale.

Mad props to you.

Nothing better than breaking out of the norm and doing something different :rock:

:rock::rock::rock:most excellent:rock::rock::rock::burnout:

i agree on the weight savins. tranny, coverter, cooler lines, cooler, way more juice & tranny puter.

ya think bout that one peice driveshaft from an '06????

hey man like i said i enjoyed helping, kinda lit a fire under my butt to try and get mine back on the track, think i might order the wheels i mentioned to you the other day and see if it all works out. It make sense in my head but usually dosent translate to the real world either:D

oh and i looked up the gear ratios for the 48re vs the T56, truck probably feels WAY better in 1st and 2nd since the gear ratios in the T56 are lower(esp 2nd gear when compared to 2nd in the 48re)

There's no comparison guys, thanks for the compliments. I have a good feeling I'll be doing more in the future! It is everything I'd hoped for and I'd never driven a RC till ArrestMeRed let me whip his and at that time I was already knee deep into mine. It was exactly what I'd wanted and I knew the right decision was made even if I had to get a RC 10 block!
Luckily I was blessed with things going mostly as planned and having good buds fir helping and the extra eyes.

I'm driving as we speak and hopefully Tooloe or Justin can video it for y'all.
The one piece shaft would have taken alot more money and the 06+ aluminum shafts would have to have a Conversion U joint that doesn't exist, so I had mine custom made. Smooth as silk baby! This shop has done about 40 shafts over the years for myself and customers trucks/cars I've lifted/dropped insanely. I am a very happy man right now, like hot sexxxx.

Awesome work. I see a lot more Quad Cab guys doing this conversion in the near future. And I agree with Venomous the quad cabs should have come with the 6 speed from the get go.
