1st mod advice

Hello from Ak!

My SRT is on it's way and won't be up here for 2 weeks, but i can't help shopping for it already!

What should my very first mod be? Lowering, air charger, short shifter, exhaust? The truck is completely stock right now, where should I start for a good bolt on foundation?

With all the experience on this forum I was hoping to get some good advice.

I'll post pics once it arrives.

Welcome and kiss your bank account good bye - SCT tuner if it's a QC. K&N filter and exhaust if it's an RC.
 
I actually read on here someone getting less power with a K&N filter and the stock box was better. What about RAM air, anyone with positive/negative experience?

I think he means the K&N drop in filter, not CAI.
 
Yea ive been told to stay away from the K&N drop in filter as this one is better.....i seem to not be able to find the link!...hopefully someone will post it again so i can save it this time!! i forget who's the filter made by but he posted a nice link with comparisons to most common aftermarket filters and this one that i cant remember performed alot better!

I say go for the Roe 1st..... skip all of the minor mods that give you less hp.... of course, you will need to forge your internals. ;)

Just Kiddin :D - unless you can afford this as your 1st mod!

Others:
1. Exhaust (Billy Boat makes the best IMO)
2. Lowering Kit (From Stinker @ JTSVP.com)
3. 170 t-stat (From either Stinker or Justin @ JMBPerformance.com)
4. Honestly, I say cat-delete as the 1st mod.... best bang for your buck!!

Either way, it's all about what you want to do 1st.....

Tooloe is working on a new true cold air set up ---when he gets done and I like what he came up with My K&N will be for sale .:rock: :rock:

But only the studded type:D they throw sparks when you do a burnout.
 
My first mod was the K&N drop in, then Silverstar headlamps, B&M shifter then the exhaust. Save for oil lines -- I just replaced mine with JTS's and while you're at it save for power steering lines. They'll go next... FYI: B&M no longer offers the shifters for the RC's. Do some internet digging and you should be able to find one or check with our vendors, they may be able help out as well. X-Metal is another shifter choice but i understand they no longer offer a shifter either.

Exhaust: several different options and price ranges to choose from. Do a search on here there are sound clips and many a thread that discusses pretty much all the options. Best advise on exhaust is to do some research on what you want how much you want to spend and don't expect the V-10 to sound like a V-8.

For a CAI, I just ordered one from JMB. His to me was the best value out there. Mopar's CAI with the ram air ducting is supposed to be the best performer but it is not cheap. As a side project I'm researching improved air flow for our stock air intakes -- so far the restriction I see is the according section to offset the tube that enters into the air box. Others here are trying different ideas as well to improve on the factory setup.

Tuners: Torrie and Roe and DC Performance are all good as well as B&G. They all offer different tunes for different applications. B&G offers a service to reprogram your factory PCM. I think they also offer the SCT. All the others predominently use SCT hand helds. Mopar also offer a replacement PCM but that device is programmed to work with their headers, catless mids and comp coupe cam.
