tm im gettin the truck dynoed with a group of car buddies from my area...any suggestion and advice or pointers on what i should do look for and what not? first time on a dyno tomorrow and ill post up the times...gettin 3 pulls..bone stock only a drop in KnN filter so no clue what my times should be

ha ha don't know what kind of pointers your looking for really....just make sure you put 93 octane gas from a good station in it and have a great time!

well you got a qc, so i say 400hp 420trq. From what i heard you will need to put the truck in "tow/haul" mode and remove the tv cable so the truck doesnt shift into next gear. And like troy said, have the highest octane gas in the truck. But dont get caught up in what numbers it makes. Only time numbers should come into play is to see what any aftermarket parts add to it. Focus on the powerband and if they have it set up, the afr. Once the spring rolls around im dynoing my truck, i dont care about the numbers, i just wanna see how its running

Way I look at it . You can have all numbers you want if your times on track are not good . Forget about dayno ...

dyno numbers aren't useful unless you're either showing off, or comparing with and without mods.

Just remember the dyno aint for bragging.....it can let you down bad....dynos are for tuning....the track is for bragging.......good luck and have fun!

Not always, the first time I put my clunky isuzu imark on the dyno it made 425 at the wheels. I was shocked and excited! :-D

I lost all interest in dyno numbers when i had my cobalt. I had...

Harrop 1.3L TVS Supercharger swap
60lb injectors
2 step colder plugs
75/25 (meth/water) meth injection
CAI
header
3" downpipe with highflow cat
3" exhaust
heat exchanger

And a tune set to 11.9afr and 25* of timing (pushing the limits of the ecotec engine). All together about $6000-7000 worth and i only made 281whp....approx 80hp over stock. I was aiming for 300hp, but once i didnt hit it, i made the mistake of selling the car and getting something else. After that, i honestly dont care about numbers, like others said, i want it where it counts the most, the track.

Use a K&N Drop-In Air Filter and toss the OEM Paper One
Disconnect the TV Cable from the Throttle Body Assy (don't want it going into Overdrive)
Press the Tow Haul Button
Tire Pressure should be about 23-25 PSI

Let him get it up to right at 2800-3000 RPM in 3rd Gear
Press the Button on the Dyno and Drop the Hammer

Your Second Run will prob be the best of the 3... :)

Congrats now you know. Did you get the results you were expecting. I have had my truck 5 years and still dont know what it will dyno and still no tune. It runs good.

3 pulls best was 405...not happy with that but everyones numbers were about 20 lower than normal..there were 2 lightnings a stock on which ran a 320 and a tuned wit exhaust headers and cai and olny ran 330???...everyone was sayin they dyno was not calibrated and it was a used so im thinkin i have around 425 or so

Go back and read posts 3 & 9......;)....

First Different Name Brands of Dynos calculate HP in Different Ways. The Numbers you get on a Dynojet will be Different from a Dyno Dynamics or Mustang... :)

Don't get Hung up on the Numbers, it is Just a Tool for Tunning.... :) Don't go Number Hunting...

Next depending on Who the Dyno Operator is and how he sets the Dyno up, HE can make it give almost ANY Numbers HE wants it to... There are a TON of electronic switches he can set that will generate different Readings... :) :) :)

The Main thing is to use the SAME Dyno with the SAME settings under the Same type Weather Conditions (if Possible) when you do your next run. This will give you a true reading of the improvements the MODS you have added on have actually given you...

Anything else is just a waste of time and MONEY :) :) )

My suggestion, if you have the money to blow on the dyno... buy a few things to open her up. get the tuner... and then go to the dyno.

cat delete, intake and good tune. bet you wont wear sweat pants that day :D
