Our engines, are they cosidered 4 or 2 bolt blocks?

Is a 4 bolt splayed main block better than a 4 bolt where 2 bolts hold up and 2 bolts pull out?

I think its the same as the 6.1L

You cannot say one is better than the other. There are to many other variables to make a flat statement that one it better. You can have different bolt sizes, locations, locating dowels, block design, etc. All of these play a part in the equation.

To my knowledge the Viper engine has a total of 4 bolts. Two that are in tension, and two that are in shear. I have never seen a 6 bolt main cap in a stock engine.

are you talking just viper engines or all engines in general if so,
GM's LS1 thru the LS9 series are all 6 bolt mains. heck even the new LY7 3.6l V-6 in the G8 comes with 6 bolt mains. pretty wild huh?
