Just had a check engine light go off. Took it to a dealership to have them I need a PCM update on my truck. They don’t have the computer system to do it. They were able to shut engine light off temporarily. Can someone help me on how it get this issue resolved! Ty

I'm not familiar with a software update can you share the codes you got when you did the magic key trick? Thanks!

What's your year and mileage? Are you stock?

37,000 yes stock. I’m looking to find the tool so dealership can do the update for me. :)
Maybe someone wiser than myself will be able to help since I'm not familiar with the update or the tool.

Can you elaborate as to what exactly this software update is for and did you only become aware of it from the code thrown?

Good luck and keep us posted!

I've just never heard of this update - ever - so please excuse my ignorance lol

The dealership told me they had software that they used back then that they no longer use so they cannot update my computer system. So I’m wondering if anyone has this system or tool I can get the dealership so I can update my computer system. I’m not sure I really fully understand but from what they’re saying is my computer system in the truck is a lot like our Apple phones. It needs to be rebooted, but this software is what does that and they no longer make it.

Call Torrie at Unleashed Tuning … Im sure he can do and get what you’re looking for … He sells SCT tuners with several choices of tunes and is one of the top Viper tuners around

This appears to be the type of tuner he sells now .. read the page to understand the required limitations about emissions

Oh wow thank you so much!!!

I bought the SCT Tuner years ago when they first came out ,, It came with the factory tune , valet tune , towing tune and power tune … Torrie could also remote adjust tunes while on a Dyno or at home back then depending on new mods done !

When you talk to Torrie tell him what the dealer told you and let us know what he says !

Will do! I just emailed him.

This is what I got from dealership…..
CUSTOMER STATES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON CHECK AND ADVISE NO DRIVEABILITY DIFFERENCE (Check Engine Light)

scan system, got p0320 fault. found pom software update as outlined in tsb 18-004-05.
unable to perform software
updates on
this system at this time.

Need to obtain hardware to do the software update to the vehicle. Returned vehicle to customer.

Will reach out once
we have obtain the proper equipment to do the software update.

Either your Cam or Crank Sensor is weak/failing or the wiring to it needs some repair as the e.c.u. is sensing low-voltage.
A PCM "update" from what it is now to what??? What did the dealer claim?
I wouldn't believe that diagnosis for more than a second or two.

Yes, see what Torrie has to say. However if it tripped a check engine light, that has to be resolved. There is no miracle tune that will fix the current issue.

REBOOT THE E.C.U. AS FOLLOWS:
Remove both battery cables. Make sure you remove the Negative Cable and not just the Negative Ground Strap.
Now, touch the cables together for 5 seconds or so then reattach them to the battery.
Note: Simply disconnecting the battery is NOT the same. You have to create an electrical system loop to reboot the R.A.M. in the E.C.U.
It also helps to do this anytime a
Sensor (like a T.P.S. is changed). That way, the E.C.U. sees the new sensor data immediately instead of running off the old E.C.U. memory. Otherwise, it can take SEVERAL start/stop engine cycles to see the new data provided by the new Sensor.

Good luck.
