Can anyone give me a little insight to the belt tensioner as far as replacing it? Problem is I can't see the damn thing to give it a good look to r & r with a new one. It the bolt that relieves tension the same one that takes it off to replace?

Thanks in advance!

They usually only have 2 problems. This sealed bearing in the pulley going bad or the tension spring breaking or getting week.

And that is my issue, the tensioning spring is weak. I need some info on removal.

Please clarify. I'm looking to replace the whole thing, not just the pulley. 1 bolt removes the whole assembly? I'm going to look in there tonight with a light and a mirror. If I can see in there I'll know what I'm up against.

Thanks

Just went out and looked at my truck. It's dark out but I had a good flashlight. I also have a big hacking JMB intake tube blocking my view. Lol Looks like the main body of the tensioner (the part with the spring inside) has a sud on the back. It's held on with a nut on the backside. There is a small coolant hose going to the block right next to it so be careful. They usually have a pin that locates them and keep them from turning. You should be able to see that when you get it off. Just line the new one up the same way. Good luck

Thanks much. I also went and bought an extendable mirror and was able to get a look.

Appreciate all the assistance!!
