Hi:
Does anyone know what causes the shift from 2nd to 3rd (normal acceleration) to slip between shifts?
Bought new in Jan. and has always done it.
Thanks in advance,
Franko

The "torque management" makes our trucks shift funny sometimes. Get a Stage 2 PCM from DC Performance, and that will take care of it. ;)

Hi:
Thanks. I did install that. Before the origional computer was doung the same thing in the 2nd to 3rd upshift and also constantly shifting in and out of overdrive (slight acceleration). On hard acceleration the 2/3 shift is fine.
The Stage 2 fixed that.
Thanks for the info,
Franko

So, is it still slipping with the stage2 pcm installed, or not? :dontknow:

from what i have been reading here and other sites is the kick down band for 2nd gear where not right form the getgo...bands on a lot of the 48res where just not done right from the start, mine was doing the same as yours slipping 2nd to 3rd and in & out of O D and kept getting more slipage and more till it cooked it ...i think you should take it in and get the bands ajusted ....(TAKE YOUR P C M OUT BEFORE TAKING IT TO THEM)...)if they keep slipping it will go bad at some time...that you can be sure of.....i just had mine redone from the dealer and it did not charge me a penny....

Yes. I had to send the computer back twice, but it still shifted the same.
Thanks,
Franko

Agreed.... :)

I keep hearing nothing but bad things on these automatic trannies with band adjustsments. It's also only on the 05's so far from what you people keep saying. I haven't read one thing about the 06 automatic's. Did they change the tranny in the 06's? Thanks.

No, but I bet they corrected the problem. I think there was a service bulletin on the bands for '05s.

Thanks. Is there any info that I can point the dealer to so he will know what I am talking about? (bulletin/recall)
Thanks in advance,

DON'T TELL HIM ABOUT THIS PLACE...you don't want them to know of the mods ...i don't think there is a recall as it was not on all the 05's....i think some one was not doing thier job at the factory some where ok some not...

I guess I better count my blessings too !!!

'05 auto trans

Well, they took it out and the 3rd gear clutches were smoked. No one seems to know why other than the line pressure was down. The 3rd gear doesn't have a band to adjust.
Also the check engine light comes on and the TPS is bad (only on the factory computer) and when I let off the gas at 50/60 it would jump back into 4th gear. Installed the DC computer yesterday and everything works fine.

My 05 has been great so far..........knock on wood! I haven't had any slipping to date but under hard acceleration between 1st and 2nd the tires chirp 3 out of 5 times. Even when they don't chirp the shift is vey positive. Hope this isn't the beginning of the trans slipping.
