I purchased my 05 SRT on ebay and the previous owner did not give me the extra set of keys. I am tired of trying to get them from the asshole, I mean person, so I am just going to buy a new set.

Does the 05 have a transponder in the key?

Thanks, Mark

hit up dragon or moparconnection , they can get ya what ya need:rock:

The problem with the transponder is that it will have to be programmed. And from what I understand, you can do it one of two ways:

1. If you have two keys already programmed there is a way for the 3rd key to learn the code (this is something you can do).
2. You can take it up the butt by taking it to a dealership or key place and paying a lot of money (here it cost about $125)

There is a 3rd option. You can do the viper key mod by buying a viper key from a vendor or ebay. Then cut you existing key up and get the transponder out and superglue it to the inside of the steering column. This way it will be close enough to work when you put your viper key in the ignition.

I am in the same boat as you. I think that I would like to have a normal set of keys and do the viper key mod both.

There are instructions somewhere around here for the viper key mod.

well, mostly true........

if you already have two keys programmed into your truck, you can add extras by buying the blanks off ebay for ~$10.00 & doing it yourself for free from the instructions in your owners manual.

or

if you only have one programmed key - you can take your ebay blank & go to your local locksmith who can program it for easily half of the dealer cost.....
if you take your driver's license & registration (as proof of ownership) to the dealer, they can give you the four digit program key code needed to program your keys.... this move saved me an extra $10.00 @ the locksmith........

as far as the viper key mod, i'm not a big fan of it...... it defeats the theft deterent of the programmed keys..... this is what saved my neon from being stolen recently:
