I'm sure someone will chime in but in the meantime I'm curious how many miles are on it and what have you done so far with your troubleshooting? Any codes? How do you know which cylinders? Good luck to you!

My truck overheated on a trip through Ohio.. no lights no warning.. it just got hot in the cab... So I let it cool down discovered that the well was empty of antifreeze.. once it cooled down I put new antifreeze into the well.. and noticed that there was white smoke coming out of the tailpipe when I started it up again.. so I spent the night in a hotel and went to the local Chrysler Jeep dealership in that area.. who diagnosed it as having missed firing on cylinders three and eight they said my radiator had cracked at the bottom and was leaking.. so my truck has been there for the last 2 weeks as I'm trying to conjure up money to pay for repairing the radiator.. however I am not in a position to have them here the engine now.. and they are not sure that once they tear down if they can find parts to properly put it back together again....
... But they do claim that once they repair the radiator and redo the fluids that I should be able to drive it home gingerly back to Detroit Michigan.. but don't plan on taking any long trips and with it missing the way it has been...

After a significant overheating episode, white smoke out of the tailpipe (particularly if it smells a bit sweet) is evidence that coolant has found its way into the exhaust system.

Coloured porcelain (antifreeze) may also be noticed on spark plugs and will likely be in the cylinders that had the misfire.

So in other words, coolant has found a path into the combustion chamber(s).

There may have also been bubbles in the rad when it was running.

Check also for a coffee and cream coloured goop on the dipstick which means antifreeze in the oil.

The likely reason are cracks in the cylinder head(s) or block and/or loss of head gasket seal.

I'm a bit confused about your comment: "it just got hot in the cab". If coolant ran low or near empty, it couldn't have made it to the heater core inside the cab.
Hmmmm.

Let us know what's what...

I wouldn't drive it until some of these things can be resolved.

White smoke out the tail pipe and misfiring is not a good sign .. loosing coolant along with that is the sign of a bad head gasket , cracked head or block … coolant entering the combustion chamber.. Don’t drive it ! Check and see if coolant is in the oil and pull the spark plugs and see what they look like also.
 
Like mentioned already, tow the truck home but definitely don’t drive it. Plugs might be able to tell you something of what’s going on inside the engine. On the receipt from the dealer, was there any other notes or cel?
 
Don't panic. Don't listen to the dealerships telling you there are no parts. There are plenty of parts out there to repair or rebuild engines. Just not at Dealerships. From what I hear they are pretty useless bunch.
If I can build an engine from scratch way down here in New Zealand, you are going to be ok.
John Mercedes at Southeast Performance in Florida got all my parts including a brand new block and my Striker Heads. There are also plenty of parts guys. JTS, JMB, Online parts network, Rockauto, The Viper store, Viper Parts Depot. There plenty of suppliers just get google to help you.

I agree don't drive it , if the coolant leak into the cylinder gets worse will driving it back ? you could squeezy a rod bearing , then dick the crank , those are hard to find and $$$ . Pulling the heads and inspecting those ? and doing gaskets and new bolts is way cheaper then doing a complete engine ?

Thank you for your insight and comments on this subject.. the dealership determined that I had a cracked radiator.. they also investigated the head and said there was no damage to the Head.. but it will take a complete overall to take the engine apart to see where the internal problem lies.. the dealership went on to put a new radiator and hoses in the truck fill it up with new antifreeze drain the whole system filled it up with new antifreeze..
they advise me to drive it gingerly back home... I'm in Detroit Michigan,,, my truck is in Columbus Ohio making it a longer trip coming back but to drive it a couple of hundred miles at a time.. so that's my goal for Friday to bring my truck back home.. and then I will get with some local mechanics to get it further assessed and to see if I can afford taking the engine apart and fixing the problem... If not, then I will put it up for sale honestly disclosing the problem that I have experienced..
Other than the Mrs the truck runs fine it looks good there's no rust eggs it almost look like the day I bought the truck.. some almost 20 years ago...

Wow! Good luck on Friday, driving gingerly in a 10 is almost an oxymoron but you can do it! Keep us updated and good luck with the next steps!!

IF YOU HAVE TO drive the truck, take the rad cap off (unless the weather temperature is too hot on the drive home). That way, it will take nearly 15 p.s.i. off of the entire cooling system and at least reduce (or if you're lucky, eliminate) any leaks from a crack, or whatever is causing it.

Take the cap off when cold (obviously) and as it warms up and the thermostat opens, the coolant may jump up and down and make a bit of a mess. You could temporarily chuck a towel on the geyser (this happens fast) so you won't have to listen to a squealing belt from the antifreeze while driving.
The hyperactive coolant will settle down shortly and you could top up the rad again and start your journey home (keeping an eye on the temp gauge).
