2005 SRT-10 misfiring on cylinders 3 and 8

IF YOU HAVE TO drive the truck, take the rad cap off (unless the weather temperature is too hot on the drive home). That way, it will take nearly 15 p.s.i. off of the entire cooling system and at least reduce (or if you're lucky, eliminate) any leaks from a crack, or whatever is causing it.

Take the cap off when cold (obviously) and as it warms up and the thermostat opens, the coolant may jump up and down and make a bit of a mess. You could temporarily chuck a towel on the geyser (this happens fast) so you won't have to listen to a squealing belt from the antifreeze while driving.
The hyperactive coolant will settle down shortly and you could top up the rad again and start your journey home (keeping an eye on the temp gauge).
Leave the cap on but loose not off is my suggestion

The auto tech at Byers Chrysler Plymouth in Columbus Ohio.. said that he tested the coolant system and had the truck running for almost an hour and then turned it off started it up and ran it again for another 45 minutes did the same thing the next day with no problem.. he pretty much can assure me that if I have a problem it would not come from overheating as long as I don't push it.. push it means running the truck yet 70 plus miles per hour for an extended length of time.. I'm going to say a prayer and take my time and enjoy the countryside and it will be a slow ride but I have my music... my CDs.. my old school R&B CDs...my Gospel CDs.. and the blessings from all of you...and the God we serve

So, the truck sat at the dealership and they fixed the rad.
Now #3 and #8 no longer misfire and there is no white smoke.
Is this right??

That the question I asked myself immediately as Ronnie said ..
Why is the dealer saying to drive easy ,Has he given a reason why and he suspects something ? White smoke previously ( does it still have white smoke ? ) and misfiring isn’t something to just brush off , It can and will damage the cylinders etc. if antifreeze or water is going into the combustion chamber washing oil from the pistons walls , rings and contamination's of the oil damaging bearing and everything ! With #’s 3 and 8 misfiring it would appear along with white smoke from the exhaust then it’s excessive leakage with a high possibility of doing big damage.

As Detective Joe Friday used to say on Dragnet, when trying to solve a case:
"Just the facts (Ma'am)"....

Are #3 and #8 on the same coil?
Maybe coil was a bit hot and has given up
Any half ass garage would have done a pressure test, surely.
I have seen engines get hot before and sometimes they melt the sludge from idling about doing nothing. Yes that makes smelly white smoke. Our baby loco at the railway supposed to be 75hp but it has 150hp detroit 471. That has super light duties for short runs, never gets a hard run and hardly ever gets warm. Last summer the boys hooked both the locos on 120 t and dragged them all the way to Pleasant Point Station. It looked as if it was on fire, eventually lost power and stopped. Anyway....where was I going with this....

Dodge used a coil pack from a 4 cyl minivan and one from a 6 cyl minivan.
Yes, 3 and 8 are on the same (6 cyl) coil pack.

Hopefully, it wasn't sludge burning off from inside the 8.3 ;)

Maybe borrow a 6-71 (although a bit undersized) off one of those locos for your Striker Build. That could be fun and...toadally retro dude!!!

Yeah na it would just go bang. Actually if you retarded the timing and ran about 4psi it would probably go ok at maybe 760-800hp

Hey Ronnie are you guys becoming an independent state? Or is it just BS

Alberta (where I live) has been sort of trying to separate from Canada for a while now. There was talk of Trump grabbing Canada a while ago, as well.

Who knows???
51st State. One lot are saying they are after 1m sig petition to force a referedum. The other lot reckons it's rubbish and it's just a small fringe minorty. So it will some where in between I guess

Any forced induction kit we've installed at our altitude automatically loses 2 p.s.i. Most recently, an Edelbrock
E-force blower kit installed on a new style Camaro (rated at 6 p.s.i.) produced only 4 p.s.i. here. But it DID produce the advertised 6 p.s.i. at sea-level where they are rated.

Conversely, driving 1000 km west to sea level is like adding a 2 p.s.i. blower/turbo to most N.A. engines.THAT is significant as it adds nearly 80 horsepower to my engine, for example.

And yes, it is understood forced induction engines don't suffer as much at altitude like n.a. engines do. Particularly with the more powerful forced induction engines with higher boost numbers.

As far as your current horsepower levels with your rig, you should be very near 760-800 crank now, with everything dialed in.
Have fun!

Meanwhile, back at home....
You are on the mend.
I am on the mend.

A waiting game for Spring weather in these parts. It snowed again last night and is currently 15 below.

I would like to lower my current e.t. (just because). ....not getting any younger...Tick tock.

SNOW??!!!?? OMG we are in the freaking 90s down here already! Mother Nature has gone insane hahaha

Alberta sends an annual sum of $20B to eastern Canada which is collected here through taxes, and then distributed by the Federal Government. Considering there are only 5 million people in Alberta, it is a considerable burden to taxpayers.
The 20 Billion is part of the federal "Provincial Equalization Payment Program", but as NO part of that comes back to Alberta, it is anything but equal. Instead, most of it stays in Eastern Canada.
People are getting tired of it but
I firmly believe at the current level of public concern and attention, something will change by 2099 at the latest. ;)

Global Cooling!! Augghhh, Run for your life!
Or at least for a snow shovel.
Yeah our long range forecaster (some people call fruit cake) uses planets sun allsorts. Anyway long story short it sounds like we are going to be in for an unsettled winter, with plenty of storms and 1-2 deg below normal. He also talks about earthquakes and volcanic activity.

Yes, I've heard Venus has been abnormally hot so far this year (800 F.) and residents are complaining. Apparently they believe Global Warming on Earth is affecting their climate as well.
No one really NEEDS Volcanic activity nor Earthquakes, so hopefully you will be spared any of that in your part of the world.

Another gloomy day here. Lots of floods in the far north of north island.
Supposed to be doing exercises. Getting there.
We get a lot of earthquakes and volcanic activity. We are on the edge of the Australian plate and the pacific plate. The scaremongers will tell you we are overdue for the big one. Lake Taupo was our big volcano. It just goes bang. The whole planet will get affected when that goes again
