I'm thinking of lowering my 2006 Inferno Red SRT-10 Quad Cab.

From my reading, it looks like X-Metal might be the favorite amongst most of you guys.

Also, I understand that the 2006 suspension is slightly different from the 05 and 04.

All you 2006 QC owners out there who have lowered their trucks, please post up info and pics if possible in this thread.

Good info would be
1. What brand is your lowering kit?
2. What drop did you get? 1/2, 2/4...etc?
3. How much did it run you?
4. Any issues with rubbing or alignment f ups.
5. Any vibrations or wheel hop issues?

Please try and include pictures of your truck here too...2006 Q/Cs only...
I'm sure there are at least a couple of you on this forum out of the 442 or so 2006 QCs made with lowering kits on this website....

#1 Think Stink.
#2 2/3
#3 Too drunk to remember.
#4 Negative.
#5 Also negative.

Hope that helps. Hope I didn't mis-spell much.:D

I started with the Xmetal kit and had to make all sorts of changes because it would shudder on acceleration. 2006 QC's are different and seem to all get some sort of vibration when you lower them with a flip kit. If you just do rear shackles, you have no problems.

I would order the front springs from Stinker and he can get you the rear flip kit from Ground Force.

Here is what it took to correct the shudder.

Installed the Ground Force axle saddles and their shim kit for the trans and bearing carrier as well as 2 degree wedges for the rear end from Bell Tech. The Caltracs are set to 1 3/4 turns. The rear shackles are set to thier lowest setting. I also had to replace the driveshaft center support. It was destroyed. I believe on these truck we need to be careful when raising them on lifts with no support to the rear axle. I think this is what stresses the center support bushing and consequently causes its failure. The final setting on the rear end is 4 degrees down angle.

Lastly, I installed a set of helper air bags for towing purposes which I feel did not have any effect or contribution to the fix but if you put to much air pressure in them, the shudder will come back.

Lastly, I installed the QA1 shocks. They make a world of difference in the ride. They did not contribute to the fix but highly recommend them.

After reading the stuff above and PMing with Stinker, I'm going to just get the rear lowering shackles for right now, and when he's done with the kit he is developing for the 06 QCs, get that too.

Thanks for the info guys....especially blackviper.

Blackviper, do you have a vibration when you accelerate from a dead stop? I have the x-metal drop for my 06 QC and can't seem to do anything to get rid of it and I also had to replace my carrier bearing and have cal-tracs

1. What brand is your lowering kit? X-metal
2. What drop did you get? 1/2, 2/4...etc? 2/4
3. How much did it run you? $1000
4. Any issues with rubbing or alignment f ups. No
5. Any vibrations or wheel hop issues? Have had a vibration since day 1: do a search and you'll find my thread. Be sure to check your carrier bearing to see if its torn and/or ripped (this holds the driveshaft at about the middle of the truck).

Ven doestn have a drop kit yet bo, and black viper installed the ground force rear flip kit, and air bags for towing and I think that took ccare of the problem

I would pm him for details, but if ya need the groundforce rear flip hollla,

^^ What he said...

For right now, I'm just getting Stinker's rear drop shackles to level out the truck - Once he's done with his entire kit for the 06 QC, I'll get that.
