Did anyone (per chance) see the U.S. Open Golf Championship this weekend...?

It was truly a memorable golf tournament which culminated in an 18 hole playoff today between Rocco Mediate (who could have become the oldest <age 45> winner in the tournament's history) vs: (who else) Tiger Woods.

These two players are longtime good friends and the drama was high...

Rocco (who has never won a major) trying to make history as the oldest player ever to win the tournament.... And Tiger grimacing in pain after nearly every tee shot due to a recent third surgery on his left knee.

It was a see-saw battle with each player gaining as much as a three shot advantage over the other only to suffer numerous reversals of fortune... It was absolutely the most entertaining U.S. Open I've ever seen.

Tiger ultimately won out over Rocco on the 91st hole......

Golf rules...... I am priviledged to have been able to see this......

Tiger now has 14 major tournament wins...:congrats:

Just finished it.
Unbelievable effort by Rocco but in the end Tiger always finds a way. I cant say Rocco gave it to him as he played steady most of the day and just had a poor last hole

I love watching Tiger play. He breaks some record every time he plays. I feel sorry for the rest of the field. You could be really talented and never win while Tiger is playing.

Congrats Tiger!

Rocco does appear to be a class act!

I really can't stand watching golf, however, I did get sucked into it today and actually kind of enjoyed it. Too bad so many people had to miss it due to work!

Yes....

It's one of the only times (that) I've been glad to be unemployed.... :congrats: ;)

It was a see saw battle between champions. Yes both of them are champions. To have played 90 holes to end up having to go into sudden death was amazing. Rocco had Tiger for a few holes. It just so happens Tiger was able to pull it together in the end. Had Rocco sunken that last putt, they would have moved on to the next hole. Just missed by a little after knocking one out of the bunker. Yeap, Champions both.

Right on........

Rocco played his heart out against the fiercest competitor ever to play the game of golf.... Those who don't play the game cannot possibly appreciate how difficult (if not impossible) it is to consistently make great shots....

Rocco didn't choke..... he's awesome to have performed so well.:congrats:

Those whose jobs are to function as heroes rarely sit in front of televisions for half (of) the day.

I salute you....:congrats:

Great match that helped make for a great Father's Day. Nailbiter all the way to 91. What powerful athletes all! '09 back to my neck of the woods!

Anyone who's played the South Course at Torrey Pines knows that unless you are long and straight, yer gonna get yer ass handed to you...

It's long, narrow and the long grass (normally) doesn't have a relief cut in it...

If you play there when (they are) preparing the course for the Buick Open, you can be 2 inches off of the fairway and mysteriously lose your ball.... It's that vicious... It's infknfuriating as hell....

You look down the fairway at 18 and (from the tee box) the pin looks like it's in another state.... Very, very daunting... So while watching it, it brings back memories of a bloodletting game of golf that you may wanna fkn forget...

Also for the U.S. Open, I'm sure they built some new tee boxes that add hundreds and hundres of yards to the course.... Torrey South will kick your ass...

Don't be.....

Torrey Pines is a municipal golf course....

The first time I played it, the greens fees were $30....

The last time I played it, the cost was $180......

The land on this course has been paid for 30 yrs ago.... Now that it is, they screw ya in the ass.

I don't care about playing it again.... There are plenty of golf courses in California with a view of the Pacific that are vastly more reasonably priced than $180...... It's a bit of a rip-off........
