At first you say man these trucks are fast. Then you get in a Viper and you are a little timid, you here all the stories of people who wrecked them. You say to yourself, well that won't be me I have had plenty of fast cars. You gian the courage to hammer it in first gear...your rolling along a 35mph, whiich by the way is only ~3800-4000rpms, you made your mind up, you want to know what this thing can do. Your hand is cocked and ready to yank back and grab second gear. YOu go through a mental check. If the ass end goes to the right, give the wheel a little adjustment. You do it, BAM, you mash the pedal. not much happens, you just smokes the tires and the tach flew up to 6000 rpm and you just got into nuetral. Sigh a breath of relief, but you know the tires are warm now. You go again, first gear, BAM...before you can react you are doing 55mph and are almost redlined, the car hooked(which sometimes it decides to do and sometimes it doesnt...depends on the mood its in), you tank back with your right hand as fast as you can and and get back on the gas with ease, you still spin a little and get some wheel hop, the back end kicks out but you can handle it. Next is the full go 1-2 shift...you quickly realize this car has tons of torque, and even though the tires are massive the let go easy sometimes. This is on a stock 96 GTS with 450hp, I can't imagine an 08 with 600hp.

have fun, but be careful

Thank you very much, I have the utmost respect for the power of these cars. Yes I am one of the guilty ones who has always had powerfull muscle cars (still own 68 Coronet R/T and 69 Super bee) but I baby them and try to understand thier limits. I had the truck sideways just a few times. I willtake my time getting used to this car. It is such an incredible feeling behind the wheel of something that seem barely street legal and rides like a lumber wagon, but I would have it no other way. I will be very careful. thanks again for the advice.

Saturday night...its been a long day, a long week...business sucks but you know there are more important things in life. You can't sleep, you know that tomorrow you are going to be able to slip behind the wheel for the first time in 10 days. You just think about how much the car can handle, how far out there the limits are and you know you will never be able to tame it. Its not like our trucks, none of that heres a nice drift, or man I can't believe I beat the vette by a car length. You dream about the TT's you can never afford or possibly putting on that Roe with a 10# pulley. YOu know you can find a used Roe and and gain what seems to be an infinite amount of power (you know Sean is developing a GenIV one right now:rock: ). 6:30am, its still dark, grab some coffee, meet up with some friends at 7:30 and its out the cruise...65* outside but the pavement is still cold. You feel like you know the car, You make a left on to the highway, 1st gear...3000 rpms...you hit it...tires spin, back end shoots out to the right, yank it back to second but you wait to hammer the gas pedal...the tires start to grab you smash the throttle...the tires spin, you get some wheel hop, back off the throttle...tires grab, back on the gas, 5500rpms show, you go for third, quick but nice and easy, you nail the throttle, the ass kicks out again, and the nose of the car points straight up in the air, the tires chirped but dug in right away. You just about crapped your pants because your thought the whole rear was coming around, how can that be, you were doing 85 mph when you went for third. but thats behind you 5500rpms is coming again and now your doing 115mph, bam 4th gear, the nose goes back up again and you think your in a freight train...you think when the heck does this car stop pulling, 5500rpms again and you at 140mph with no slowing down...you think I am ready, I am ready for 5th gear, so you go for it and the squeeze the throttle to the floor, this thing is still pulling, 150 is tossed by the way-side, you stay on it but you cant focus on anything going by you, you look down quickly to see 160mph and you back off, drop it to 6th and you cruise at 120mph at 3000rpms. Now you addicted, now you think how does Walt actually not lose consciousness in his Viper. Know you know why those TT's are all the rage.
Now I know why I love the car, why when I drive it it give me a huge grin. You reall can't think about anything else, just the steering wheel, rpms, and gear shifter...ahhh a therapy session...Back to reality...;)
