2009 Cadillac CTS-V

The CTS-V came out in 2004 with a 400 hp (Z06 motor) with a six speed...they are not late to the game.

The new car can be had in a six speed manual or automatic.

I would not be surprised to see a paddle shifter in the very near future. GM is on the right track.

I don't think it will be paddle so to speak, but it will be steering wheel mounted. Ferrari and Maserati have awesome paddle shifters.

Would love to see a resurgence of GM...even Ford for that matter...it really is a nationalistic thing...BMW makes wonderful vehicles...I would love to have US based manufacturers regain some of their lost prestige...before they all get swallowed up by China!

I am completely with you. I try to keep my auto purchases as American as they can be, since the truck was made in Mexico...who knows where the rest of my cars have been made.

The one in the photo is an auto and they will be available on this car! It has touch buttons on the steering wheel to shift or you can use the shifter. I have been eagerly awaiting to hear if they were going to do a new CTS-V but I didn't expect it to have been based on the ZR1 motor. The more I think about this car, the more I hope it is as good as I expect. I have been looking for my next ride for a while now. Guess I have to wait a little longer so I can check this thing out.

Cadillac CTS earns IIHS' Top Safety Pick

The new Cadillac CTS has been snatching up awards and garnering praise since its launch last year, and now its got another trophy to place on its shelf. After the IIHS wrapped up its battery of batterings, the CTS joined the Institute's list of Top Safety Picks for 2008. Cadillac's entry-level sports sedan is sitting at the table with the Volvo S80, Saab 9-3, Audi A4 and A6 as another vehicle to receive the highest rating issued by the Institute after enduring front, side and rear crash tests, along with being equipped with electronic stability control.

Gettelfinger says Ford, Chrysler in good shape for future

New contracts for the United Auto Workers union that actually help save money for the Big Three domestic have been wrapped up for some time, but $100/barrel oil and continually despressed housing market are contributing to tough times for U.S. automakers. Those harsh realities don't seem to be getting UAW top dog Ron Gettelfinger down, though, as he likes the future of Ford and Chrysler. Union Ron acknowledges that the next six months will be tough, but once the new contracts begin taking effect, Detroit will have a lot more cash for future vehicle development.

Automotive News sites analyst predictions of $1,000 savings per vehicle that could give Ford $2.4 billion per year and Chrysler $2.0 billion per year to fund their respective turnarounds. Gettelfinger sees both domestics putting the money back into vehicle development, which would mean more and better new product. Although Gettlefinger feels Cerberus will invest money into Chrysler, he seems to think Ford is in better shape saying that it especially has a bright future. Hopefully we'll see reason for hope next week at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, as both Ford and Chrysler have the chance to show the world what they have up their sleeves for the coming years.

You know Bandit, you can say what you want about the Cadi, and you can PooPoo the fact that GM got in the game late, but I think it's great to see them get in the game!!

People don't realize how much of an impact the "Real Big 3" have on the US economy. It is essential that they continue to compete in the market, and that means in all corners of the market. I am glad that there are people that will buy this CTS-V over a BMW because it is a product of the USA!! It is vital that GM continue to compete, and hopefully one day gain advantage and a larger market share in foreign trade as well.

Oh, and that's a pretty cool Cadi!!!:rock::rock:

Touche'... all totally valid points... I would have liked to seen this car as an option back when the 2006M5 ... there is NO reason that it should take 3 years for GM to catchup to BMW.... we should be the innovators...

I like your point... it's very valid... I just know GM and FORD can do a lot better to win customers over.... this one's a day late and a dollar short...

and while I'm ranting... I looked at buying a charger srt-8 instead of my 5... they wanted me to pay over sticker... I tried to look at caddi... didn't have a car... I looked at a GT500... guess what ford wanted 25K over sticker... and they wouldn't even talk to me .....

so... I still love my truck... but GM/Ford and even Dodge needs to wake up...

I thought it came out before that... but the 400hp E39 M5 came out in 99... so with your year... that's 5 years later...

GM should be the LEADER not the follower... however,I agree with you guys... I'd like to see a resurgence as well... but for one they'll probably mark these up<to be uncompetitive> ... the late model CTS-V was 52K<a GREAT buy>... how do I know??? because I looked at buying one a few years back... why didn't I??? cuz the sales guy didn't want to talk to me <most likely due to the fact that I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt> .... happened at 2 different dealers...

/rant off :p

p.s.
speaking of paddle shifter... ahh yes just another point for me to say' way to go GM you're great at copying and not innovating anything'.. is it going to be a DSG like what VW has... is it going to be an SMG like what BMW has... or is it going to be a mickey mouse automatic that you can manually shift <most likely because they're NOT innovative>...

come on guys.... let's face it american cars for the most part are just mediocre <for the most part> the 2 american stars are the viper and the vette?? that's the best we can do???

Look at the aerospace industry... some of our planes are works of ART... it's engineering excellence... we LEAD the world.... I wish we could say the same about our cars... but I just can't :|

ok now /rant's off... I promise... :p
