The '09 Ram R/T will pull up to the line with a 5.7L HEMI V8 tuned to 390 horsepower and 407 pound-feet of torque and a 5-speed AutoStick transmission, as well as a host of exterior upgrades including a new front bumper, blacked out grille, dual exhaust, chrome 5-spoke wheels and body-color everything. The amazing thing is that the engine will scoot this short-box, two-wheel drive truck to 60 mph in less than six seconds, according to Chrysler. If that sounds a little too good to be true for a pickup with less than 400 horsepower, credit should go to the "loose" torque converter that allows less slip compared to a normal automatic. The shifts are more aggressive than in a normal Ram and the unique torque converter does degrade fuel economy a bit, but that should be none of your concern by nature of the fact that you're interested in a sport truck to begin with.

I'm sure it is fly-by-wire, I wonder if it shuts down at 105mph??

No 6.1.........why,why,why???

Because all the people making the decisions are worried about MPGs. Actually I would not want to see one in a Ram until they "fix" it. The new 5.7 is at 390 now, 6.1 still at 425.

I like the exhaust... The new front end is still a little hoaky lookin' to me. But, it may grow on me, like the '06's did. :dontknow:

My guess would be that the 6.1 only goes into SRT vehicles, and it's probably a bit too soon to offer an SRT-8 Ram. It might seem like a half-assed replacement for the 10 Ram.

IMO anyway.:dontknow: :D

I doubt it's considerd a replacement for the SRT10, but it does fill a temporary void if they ever do come out with a SRT8 version.

Things are changing with fuel prices rising and pollution reductions coming in, the HEMI may not be here for that much longer...

I agree, 6.1 in a Ram, bad marketing. :D Would it work, I think so. BTW, good luck trying to change (read as mod) anything on the new rig with the loosened up torque converter.:(

Man I LOVE THE BODY, CHASSIS, AND INTERIOR! Just waiting for a 500hp srt8 then it's bye bye Viper...........It's been fun:)

i like the one with the burnt orange color. been keeping an eye on it for my company vehicle next year.

Awesome interior but really can't get over the new body style.

Looks alright..Adequate power love the dual exhaust just makes the truck
look bad...Nice job...:D

I think it looks bitchin'...updated/cool. The output on the 5.7 is progressing nicely, should be a nice match with the 6-speed in the '09 Chally R/T...

The new 5.7 heads out-flow 6.1 Heads... a Cam swap + goodies will get this thing to 500hp...

Bikertats supercharged beast would be cheaper!

Unless you were worried about blowing the motor. If you put forged internals in to protect it Bikertats now costs 42K. Sweet truck but the threads about the motors has me a bit frightened of anything boosted
