2009 Ducati 1198S: MD First Ride

one thing I loved about the ducs, the brakes , they would just stand you on your head:D

but the greatest part of the duc's is the ability of trq they offer, leaned over in a corner, crank the throttle to stop, get the rear spinning up , tug on the bars just a little and come out of the corner spinning the rear and the front tire lifted about 10 inches. SOB! INEED TO RIDE AGAIN!!!!!!!:D :D :D

Oh and in my opiinion, traction control SUX:p

You have to remember that not everyone is as talented as you and Joanne are on a bike. It's probably a life saver to the majority of riders.

I think traction control should be banned from racing, it just ruins the competition.

Bill.

Looks like they styled the front like the Desmosedici RR from a few years ago!  I figured that would happen, as the Desmo was just too drop-dead gorgeous to die.

The DTC system on the "S" model sounds interesting.... Not sure if I would want it tho. Too many settings, IMO. I would opt for the "normal" 1098 (being released later), if I had the money.

For the street rider, that is young and full of #$$#:D most definitly, it will keep alot of people out of trouble with the power and handling of todays bikes.

but like Begood I think traction control in "racing" took away alot of rider talent.
I was lucky enough a couple years ago to ride one of valvolines superbikes with traction control and while I dont have near the talent of these young guys I definitly went faster than I ever had at birmingham, but dangit Silver, it jsut took all the fun outta things:D no sliding out of the corners, no wheelspin, didnt have to worry about throttle control, shucks jsut twist the grip and dont go to fast in the corners and bust ya ass and the thing would fly:D

I'm REALLY liking some of the "Streetfighter or Naked" style bikes that are out too.

The Honda CB1000R
The Ducati Streetfighter 1099
The Kawi Z1000
The KTM Super Duke R
The Buell Lightning XB12Ss

Honda did a concept version of the CB1000r called "XESS" last year.... I think it's just the business!

I agree Tony. Electronic controls on a race vehicle of any type is bullshit. The best driver/car should win. Not the car with the best control systems.

If I'm going to spend that kind of money I would get the Desmosedici RR
