Hi Ted,
Glad you have had great success with your stock welded rear end. I wasnt so lucky.. and there was plenty of gear oil in it when it died..However, I put over three times the torque and 3 times the rated horse power into mine... is the lada unit a locker or limited slip?

Kind of a gearing topic:
For those of you that are running a QC with an auto and have gone down the performance road far enough to have a tune, I can't emphasize enough the difference winding out 3rd gear makes. If you have your tuner raise the 3-4 shift point, it makes a major difference in top-end pull at wide-open throttle and helps keep the engine out of detonation during that time.

I haven't seen reference to gearing combined with transmission gearing reduction for a long time. There's a lot of torque multiplication going on by the time it reaches the rear tires!
