I posted this site a month or so ago and wanted to give an update...the blower pictured on his site is a 14-71 that's going in a (I believe he said) '35 Dodge pickup being done by some guy in upstate New York...

http://www.hamptonblowers.com/

I spent a long time on the phone with Don Hampton today and he says he can deliver a complete 8-71 blower, manifold, and carb (throttle body) adapter for our trucks for about $6k. That does not include any engine management at all, you'd be required to do that on your own. I would assume one or more of our vendors could help sort all that out once the plumbing and wiring got done. He said you'd need about 8.5:1 compression and you absolutley need to key the crankshaft so the assumption would be that you'd need to competely rebuild the bottom end to lower the compression, change the cam, and key the crank, not to mention beef the whole thing up anyway.

This project would not be for the faint of heart, but it would be one bad ass ride when it got done...I'm pondering it...there's much research to be done, but damn, how cool would that be!!! Talk about a totally one off and unique build...

Do it bro! That would be bad as you wifes boobs!!!:D

both big sweet and beautiful!!!:D

Really look into it, not sure who would take it on but dang that would be awesome and who would care how much power it would make, just the site of it would scare the bejesus out of anyone!:D

Hmmmmm....maybe I should call him back and see if he could do twin blowers...LOL!!!

I agree, it wouldn't be all about go, it would be a LOT about show. I bet it would build a lot of power, but there are ways to build more and probably at about the same cost, but damn that would be cool, for us guys that have grown up around them things.

Ah, I sneaky stealthy blower under the hood!!!!! Cool!

patrick

Sneaky and stealthy they are not. Even if you don't see them they whine like a cat in heat. Anyone that has heard one will not mistake it for anything else.

John is right on that. They make a sound that would make a modded L truck run for cover. Although I seem to recall there is a little trick that makes them stealthy. I seem to recall that if you drill 1/8" holes between the teeth of the pulleys it let's the air out and makes them silent. I'll worry about that decision IF I head down that path...there will be a lot of decisions to make...LOL!!!
