A Tribute to my Father

Anyone heard from Pat.......perhaps someone could give him a call, he might just need a smile.

Hey Tom,
I'm supposed to meet up with him and have lunch sometime while he's here. Said he'd give me a call when he could do it. I'll let you all know how he is after I see him. I know we are all saddened by his loss. It's so hard to lose a parent...

Hi Guys just wanted to check in and say I was ok. This has been the most difficult week of my life. I thought I was prepared for my fathers death.......boy was I wrong. The chapter that has closed is a hard pill to swallow. I do have fantastic memories but its hard to imagine life without my dad and soon my mom not around. No more phone calls......I spoke to them just about every week since I moved to Maui 18 years ago. This house of theirs where I am staying while here in VA is like a giant museum of memories. They lived here for 30 years. Its full of stuff too. Which we are going to have to go through. Dad was a saver. He threw nothing away!!

The funeral was very tough but the military really came though and gave my father a proper send off. The military honors were spectacular. The flag was given to my older sister since my mother could not attend the burial. It was extremly moving.

We have been overwhelmed with the kindness of people. I cant tell you how many people have reached out to offer their support and or tell us stories of how my parents were so nice to them. Its wonderful to hear.

Thank you guys, I appreciate your support. I have decided to extend my stay here till Sat. I want to spend time with my mother while she is still alive. Its difficult to see how her disease has progressed. A part of me will be relieved when she leaves us and goes to my father. I dont want her to have to suffer anymore.

Stetch and I are going to GTG this week. That will be nice.

Patrick,
I pray for you and your family to have the strenght and peace to deal with your loss.

If my tranny goes in this week, I will coordinate with Stretch to meet you. You seem like a outstanding individual.

God Bless,

Rick

Well all, an update on Patrick.
We met yesterday and had a late lunch/early dinner at Cheddars in Hampton. It was great to finally meet Patrick. He is one of the most genuine guys I've met from this group. Very friendly and outgoing.

He is doing very well considering why he is here. We sat and talked for probably 3 hours about our jobs, family, our trucks, this great forum and its people, and life. He has decided to extend his stay to spend more time with his mom, which is a good thing.

I really enjoyed meeting and spending time with you Patrick, and like I said, if there is anything I can do this time or the next that you are here, all you have to do is ask. I am here for you man.

And if it's in the summer, pool and beer are on me!

God Bless you and your family Patrick. Your father was an outstanding man, now I know how you came to be  You are an amazing person and I have always admired you on the forum. Hang in their and enjoy every minute of your mothers company. Everything else is secondary. If you need anything let us know :)

Hi guys just got back to Maui today. Damn thats a long flight!! Its good to be home again.

Stretch and I had a good time talking over some food. Its always cool to meet fellow members. His red truck was very nice. Get the drop kit Stretch....you wont be disappointed!:)

I dont know how you guys dont all end up with speeding tickets. I am just not used to so many wide roads where speeding is so easy to do!!! Even in my dads Honda, I found myself crusing 80 down interstate drinking my Starbucks!!! Its just so easy to do!

Only 11 pages of new posts to catch up!!:dontknow: LOL

You will appreciate this. When my bro gets up to give a eulogy about my father, the first thing he says is that my Dad would have thanked you men and wanted to shake all of your hands for what your doing.......he was pointing to the military pall bearers there to honor my father. It was very cool. The whole church broke out in applause.
