Wasn't in my 10, but an interesting thing happened in Lexington today.

A State Police detective in an unmarked car was behind me as I made a right turn at a red light (after a legal stop). After turning the corner, there are three lanes, the left and center go straight, right lane is turn only in about 500 feet. I hopped into the current center lane with moderate acceleration (as much as you can get from 105 hp VW Jetta TDI) and the DICK-tective turns into the right lane and hammers it to go around me. No traffic behind me at all, nor anyone in the left lane next to me. All I hear is his V8 winding up with full acceleration. The wife even turns to see what the fool is doing.

As we get to the merge (maybe I sped up a little out of spite), he slides in front of me and I keep my same pace. He flips his lights on and pulls to the shoulder (we are now past the right turn). OK, I figure he's up to something else, so I continue on and he pulls out behind me and waves me over.

When he approaches the car, he proceeds to tell me I was "following too close" and asked if I was aware of the law regarding tailgating. I responded "As I see it, YOU are the one that cut ME off and therefore created the short gap. I don't understand why YOU felt a need to pass on the right in a turn lane. Where is the emergency?"

He proceeded to tell me that he was doing me a favor and was not going to write me a ticket. I almost wish he did, as it would have been fun destroying him in court. I was guilty of being cut off by a guy who felt untouchable because of "who he is".

About 2 miles down the road, a Lexington city cop car miraculously started going on the exact same route as me, as a twisted and turned down an abnormal route from point a to point b, at 10 mph UNDER the limit, just to be a pain.

I truly believe that police duty should be mandatory four year tour for all men. Would reduce people's I'll will and eliminate the obvious abuse of power and callousness we all see on a daily basis.

I was on my way to college one morning about 2 years ago in my old truck. There was a Tampa PD cop who came up behind me in the left lane. I got over and let him go by. Of course all the traffic around me and him decided to slow down to his pace. No one wanted to be the one to "get ahead of him". Well it was getting old and I was starting to run late, so I said screw it and passed him but not even that fast. Sure enough, he pulls me over. He was furious and was like "everyone knows that the police go the speed limit, so if you're passing me you know you were speeding" which was funny because cops are the worst offenders of traffic laws. He "let me go" which was also a joke because only a handful of cars in the entire Tampa PD have radar, his not being one of them, so he had nothing what would have held up in court. Whatevs

I was a criminology major in college so I did a few ride alongs with Tampa PD. They are a 50/50 group. Half are really nice and everything you want police to be, the other half are just straight dicks. One of the Captains made me go home and change into dress pants, dress shirt, and a tie for one of my ride alongs. I came in originally wearing khaki pants and a polo tucked in and dress belt. Apparently police work IS like the movies where cops wear Gucci suits and run around and fight crime!

Exactly my sentiments, I work with officers who are the most respectful men to wear the badge. Then other times they're a bunch of self-centered woah is me power hungry a-holes. Don't even get me started about the time a State Trooper followed me for 12 miles, late at night, with no head lights or anything within 6ft of my rear bumper the entire ride, although it is funny.

I wouldn't generalize them all as butt holes though....

No offense and i know some people might get a little pissed but i kinda think that the ex cop in cali going crazy was in god's will giving cops a wake up call that they are not untouchable not the first pretty sure not the last.

In the early ‘90’s someone ran a psychological analysis of many professions. There were 2 professions that the predominant reason for those seeking employment was to have power over others. You guessed it, law enforcement and believe it or not, banking. That is not to say that all who seek the badge are in this position but testing is testing and proof is in the pudding. :dontknow: Use a radar dector (a good one), have a good lawyer and know your rights. A little extra cash may be in order also. :D

I got pulled over in my driveway about a month ago..

So this is where the Banker comes in..........

Here’s the key----from an old man. (met a lot of young men and a lot of wise men but no young wise man--- Experience always wins out.) I have dealt with a lot of bankers and a lot of cops. Make them feel superior and powerful and they will eat out of your hand. I am stopped on average once a month and have zero tickets on my record in the last 22 years. Tell a banker you can’t make your commercial project work without help. He will have the obvious answer and make the loan every time. Make him feel the project would have died without his help. Those with ego problems, i.e. cops and bankers, feed their ego and you are the winner. Know your opponent and you can win. I took my local chief of police in the little town I live in for a ride in my 10. He waves every time I pass, and so do his deputies. Just saying. :D

Been sweet if you had a go-pro and taped the whole thing.

I would of made him give me a ticket just to rail road his ass in court with a lawyer.
