Ok My great friends,

I called up a local service manager He said that their is no such thing as adjusting Bands. Than I call up David Casper at B And G. He said that its electronically controlled, and you dont have adjust Bands either. But My service manual from srt 10 says adjust them at 15 K. It looks like I will Have to show the Ediot service advisor the Manual tommorow.

the 48re in your truck has bands. they are refering to the 45rfe which is behind the other motors

they most definitely are adjusted. i had to adjust mine 500 miles after the rebuild.

sounds like you're local shops are interested in replacing your bands prematurely!

you need a new service advisor:D

it is addressed in the diy section, but ya need to be a supporting member, you can pm redsrt007 about those details

but their is two adjustments one is on the drivers side of the side of the tranny towards the front, the other is inside under the filter.

most came from the factory adjusted wrong, and causes soft shifting and the tranny to prematurely wear out.
adjusting them correctly brings better shifting and longer life, and if run hard should be check often

if full throttle 1-2 shift doesn't bark the tires, it's time to get it adjusted.

:-D

Mine is slipping BAD.... has been for a while. I've been waiting until it got this bad, so the service department CAN NOT deny it when I take it in. ;)

It goes in next tuesday to get adjusted and/or replaced (yes the WHOLE tranny).

COMING UP ON 15K.WHAT KIND OF COST AM I LOOKING AT TO GET THE TRANNY SERVICED.?

It was 90 bucks at my local tranny shop. It was part of a standard tranny service.

Band adjusting is like brake pads. They are a consumable item. You may not get warranty coverage just because of band slippagge. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. And bands are normal wear and tear by the service schedule.

Good Luck

When I tried to get my bands adjusted the first time I had the same issues. So the Service Manger went it looked it up and the book. She came back and said she was wrong. Go back and have him look it up or make a bet. Tell them open up the tranny and have a look, if there are bands then you get free service.

when i brought mine in, they were nice enough to do my 15K rear diff fluid change at the same time! I had to pay for that though :hmpf:
