I got the t-stat and ecm in took me 2 hours LOL:confused: ... but now I have a bigger problem... the car starts right up... beeps and shuts down... either something is wrong with the computer... I wired it back in wrong :O or I have bigger issues... I figured it'd throw a code at somepoint cuz of the cats... but uhhh it won't stay on ...

any ideas??? thanks

The plugs will only fit in the correct holes (so to speak).
Are the plugs properly seated? First try reseating them.
Is that the only mod you did? T-stat and PCM?
Did you unhook the battery when you installed the PCM?

yeah at first they weren't snapped in ... so I got them snapped... I'll unplug them and replug them in now... I had my exhaust done the other day... and had the cats removed...

I'll go try reseating them... brb

thanks

sounds like you have the wrong VIN in the computer.
That's a good statement. Where did you get your PCM?

yes the small red light came on.... I got it from DC performance... the VIN I gave them was correct... I'm certain they checked and double checked it :dontknow:

he posted eariler that he got the computer at DC perfomance. I'm guessing he said the VIN over the phone and got a number wrong.

My stage2 did the same thing in my roomates RC. started up for a second and shuts off. I'm sure there is a way to bypass that though.

ahh, i took too long to type! i hope DC can get that straightened out for ya!

I emailed them my VIN :D AWD when you had the issue with the RC... it was because the VIN was wrong?? :dontknow: I guess I'll throw the old computer on ?? make sure it works ... it makes a loud beep??

:p yeah I'm pretty sure you can't interchange them :p... damn maybe I shoulda bought a VEC for this truck too LOL.... bahhh I'm going to go try the old computer .... frick

errr the old computer works....I'm going to try it again ... just to be positive...

If the truck fires up with ur old pcm then you've found your problem. Looks like the vin is wrong on the upgraded pcm.

Good thing you bought a spare pcm.

yeah... I tried it 3 times the new computer doesn't work :| i'm bummed... I need the old one for towing... I may figure out a way to mount them both so it's easier.... I'll probably eventually buy a vec as I did with my old truck... back to DC tommorrow :) the little red light stays on now... most likely due to my exhaust :D

I cant imagine the exhaust having any effect on your current problem. Maybe throw a code, but certainly not shut your rig down like that.

DC will figure it out. Vin has gotta be wrong.

i have my stock ecu mounted, and the DC ecu is wrapped nicely in foam and sits in front of the stock computer when I'm using it.

i would definately disconnect the neg. battery cable so there is no possible way to damage the comp. your installing or removing!

?? I'm not sure I can picture that in my head...I kinda wish I could leave both computers plugged in ... and get a cable splitter and a toggle switch to pick which one I want to use :D

can you explain how the DC ecu sits in front?? foam?? huh??

p.s. I called DC they're taking care of it :)

basically, my stage 2 ecu is not physically mounted at all. it's just sitting against the stock computer.I used a zip tie to hold the cables towards the passenger side to prevent the ecu from moving around and banging into the AC expansion tank.
