Almost bought a Challenger tonite...

Thanks for your opinion on the truck. The 300C SRT8s transmission is awesome, one of the nicest automatics I have driven. They have a weird "sonic boom" as the dealers describe it when it shifts gears (more so "manually") at WOT like a "BOFFF" sound. I guess they use the same trans in the Challenger which makes me surprised to hear your thoughts on it's performance. Maybe the cars are set up differently? I do agree though, a clutch to slingshot it off the line would help matters and offer the buyer more of a drivers car although IMO it will never be a true driving machine, just too large to class as a "all-in-one" drivers car. Sexy cars though. :)

All I can say is that I was not impressed... I knew it would be less than the QC Viper Truck... but even when I used the autostick portion of it... it seemed doggish...

Maybe I had my sights set to high for it...

Agreed, they are sexy looking car... but the performance just does not stand up to what they hyped it out to be...

Plus they could have done a better job on the exhaust... I could barely hear it... I would have expected on such a car (especially an SRT8) to have a much more aggresive sounding exhaust... yes I know factory has lots to be had... but they could have at least gave is a decent growl...

I was too worried about the performance standpoint, I got a truck in the shed for that:p
 
Most definitely wait on the 09. It will have the 6 speed manual.

Now, as for the shifting on the 08. The entire car is based on the LX platform (Charger, Magnum, 300) which yes, left stock, is a but disappointing. However, with a nice CMR tune from an authorized Diablo CMR tuner, that Challenger will wake the "F" up in a hurry. Still, an OEM car that does high 12's in the 1/4 (Sea Level), aint too shabby. lol And also keep in mind that the 6.1 really loses to Heat Soak.

Comparing the Jeep to the Chally or LX platform is an apples to oranges kind of thing. The Jeep is AWD and launches like a rocket. BUT, after the 1/8 mile it loses due to lack of Aerodynamics AND weight.

Lots of mods available for the 6.1 now that tuning is available.

They need some miles on them to wake them up too...

I do believe the Jeep is geared differently too.

That's why I rarely drive Maureen's RC. haha

Yeah you guys read right, Dont get me wrong the truck is Badass and nothing less but I think I just kind grew old on me... Lately I want to have a car that I can drive everyday, rack up miles on and not have to worry about how long the $100 bucks at the pump is gonna last me. The truck is to expensive to mod for me and doesnt really yield the results I would like if i did. As far as speed goes I've always been into the old muscle and thats where I rather throw my money. I love the fact that I go on to summitracing and just go to town with even a few hundred dollars in stuff. But, back to topic, this truck is no good to anyone when it just sits in the garage...wether it be cause of a blown motor, high gas prices, or just not wanting to wear it out.... Thats why I want a V6 challenger, I'll be more than happy to make a payement on a car I drive everyday
