Alternator dying....

Anyone know of an aftermarket source? I haven't been able to find one at NAPA or any of the other chains. I am scared to check with Dodge.

If you can't find one at a decent price look around for a Alternator, starter rebuilder. Should have several in your area.

It is charging fine. The bearing is going out. It's getting hot and slinging grease everywhere.

STINKER!!!!!!!!!! HELP!

I would rather get a new one. I have had really bad luck getting them rebuilt in the past. I may do that if I have to.

I've had good luck with local shops doing rebuilds. Most times actually increasing the output over a stock alternator. :dontknow: And ALOT cheaper.

Thanks guys. I will look for a local re-builder tomorrow. Sounds like that may be the way to go. Maybe I will have better luck than last time.

Still pricey for an alternator. A buddy with a Viper told me the part from Dodge was $500+ WOW!
