My alternator appears to be getting a little lazy, anyone know the amperage of the stock alternator and if they are any bigger ones available?

I wish I could remember the company but basically you tell them what type alternator you have and they spruce it up and you exchange stock core or something like that. I'd like abetted one too

there was one on e-bay

200 amper

its still up on ebay, for more info

You can put a smaller pulley on the stocker to get a few more amps out of it

I know this is a really old thread, but I am currently putting together a 2000 watt Rockford Fosgate audio system for my SRT-10. The stock alternator in these truck (and Viper as well) are **250 amp** alternators, so there is no reason to upgrade it at all. I am tying in a second battery by added the passenger side battery tray back, and I got an XS Power D3400 to tie into the stock battery. So with the extra battery, and the stock 250 amp alternator, that is plenty of power for a 2000 watt audio system!

Voltage is flow and 1 amp can cook a person hahaha

Coll looking battery .. when your done be sure to post up the pics of the install of the second battery

I sure will, when I get everything installed. The main point I wanted to make was that the stock SRT-10 alternator is 250 amp, which is extremely high output for a stock alternator.

Here are a few pics of my prior audio system install...
