Did anyone else read about the re-make of nightmare on elm street?

They are not using anything from Wes Craven?
NO Robert England
The new freddy is supposed to be Billy Bob Thorten ?? WTF?

That sounds hilarious! Sling blade crossed with Nightmare on Elm street!!

I am into horror movies a bit as well. I did hear that info as well. If you want to get a decent update on movies go to aintitcool.com. They cover all movies and sometimes give links to other sites specifically for those movies. Lots of good info.

yea ive been there, but normally when i want horror movie info I go to fangoria magazine's web site too.

BBT??? WTF?? I dunno if they'll be able to top the original NoES. The sequels that followed didn't seem too frightening. Little by little Freddy became like a cartoon character to me. Now if they were to try and do a remake of The Exorcist..(and not just a remastered version with deleted scenes included) I'd be interested. The original Exorcist still creeps me out.

Here are some movies that were remade and some that should be remade...

Remade:
  • The Omen.. Pretty good movie.
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.. Good movie (both remde versions)
  • The Amytiville Horror.. sucked (although it did shed more light on the story) because it was a totally different looking house no where near the original one.

Potentials for remakes:
  • The Changeling.. IMO, the greatest ghost story made (starring George C. Scott)...
  • Prom Night.. (another Linda Blair joint)
  • The Shining.. I don't know they would top Jack Nicholson's performance.
  • The Thing..This movie had great potential for its time. I want to see in more depth what was going on with this story. The ending left you hanging to come up with your own conclusion, and I hate that..
  • Carrie
  • Rosemary's Baby
  • Poltergeist
  • PSYCHO
  • Evil Dead

NO MORE FRIGGEN FRIDAY THE 13ths, JAWS'es OR HALLOWEENS PLEASE!!

They just don't make horror movies like they used to.

If you guys want a quick compilation of 80's horror films check out the old movie called Terror in the Isles.

Not disagreein, but if you wanna get technical,
the movie the thing has been re-made already,
the shining, couldnt ever top that and its been re-made into a tv special,
Evil dead was remade that was also a story ext which was Evil dead 2, Psycho I believe has been mentioned for a remake

Jason will be back in another freakin sequal hopefully better than jason in space that was fkin awful god awful

Hopefully hollywood leaves the exorcist alone did you see the sequals they tired wholly fk awful

Prom night end of story kinda like jason goes to college to begin with please god no lol

Being a child of the 80's and watching everything from Nightmare on Elm to Halloween, I do not see how they will be able to top anything from the past. Hollywood has got way to graphic and they do not depict the same horror from the late 70's through the 80's. When they did the Freddy vs. Jason in 2003 I was really impressed with the outcome, but if you take the key charactors out like England you take away from the orginal charactors personality. Look at how the last Halloween turned out....s#ity!!! I think if they mess with the greats they should use the original actors!!! There's my piece of mind.

VEEEEERY true.. And being a child at that time made those movies scarier. I saw Jaws (my first movie theater experience) in 1975 when I was three. That movie freaked me out and until this day I am terrified of sharks. I don't mean the normal, "OMG it's a shark.." I kind'a terror, I mean like, "Damn this guy Venom Power is a real f#@kin p%*sy," kind of terrified.

I agree with keeping the same original actors, but then they'd probably have to provide a truck load of Metamucil handy and ready at the film scenes :dontknow: I'd say in most cases.

Good observation, but England has not really changed over the years, I really believe he is still able to perform.....

You cannot improve on perfection, so if you are going to do a sequeal do not change what has already worked in the past...Good post

I did think the original Hostel was awesome as well.

Last house on the left.
Gore Gore Girls
Frankenhooker
I spit on your grave
Hills have eyes...

All great horror flicks.

I gotta check these out. Some sound corny (and I don't know why "Mars Attacks" comes to mind) but I'll take your word for it as them being some flicks worth the watch.

Some are corny but very disturbing... I spit on your grave and last house on the left are awesome.

Yup that's what I mean. When a good movie is made (any movie; action, thriller, etc) what I don't understand, other than the change in a famous role actor, is the change in director, writer(s), producer(s) AND film company. What you end up with is totally not what you expected. But by then they have your dough already.. Like if it were a swift kick in the nutz.

Take Batman for instance. Micheal Keaton did a good job with the first installment in '89. Then his character was overshadowed by Danny DeVito and Michelle Phifer's characters in 1991's part two. For this reason Keaton gave it up. Then they came back with Val Kilmer for a couple movies, replace him with Clooney before arriving at Christian Bale. Now all is right in Gotham, I guess. In that case, judging from the box office, a change in actor had a positive result. But let's take a step farther back to an older movie, "Escape from New York" with Kurt Russell... Pretty good for it's time. I still watch it from time to time and enjoy Isaac Hayes play the villan in it. But then years later they used Kurt Russell again to play Snake Plisskin in Escape from L.A. and it was terrible. In the sequel Russell looked older and out of shape. And the plot belonged in the trash. I guess it takes the correct formula of many different factors to produce a great sequel.
