any of you guys hvac installers

I have a new house (2 years old) that we just moved into. It has a rheem 2 zone system. What I can't figure out is why my master bedroom is so cold and the other three bedrooms hot. It is getting up to a 100 degrees in VA lately. And yes I made sure the vents were open.

How many air returns do u have in your system? How far away are the other bed rooms from the air return? If your system is not breathing right it will not run right. I have 22 years of hvac exp. And have ran into the same thing in a custmers home,so we put another 14 inch return near the other b/r's and it fixed it. And always change your air filter in your home every month, and use a pleated filter it will cost u a couple of bucks more ,but it is worth it. 40 percent of problems of hvac systems is a result of not changeing your air fliter. True story, went to a custmer's home one day ,they said their system was not blowing very hard, the condensor was working , so i ck,ed the blower motor, and their it was the problem, their air filter had been sucked into the b/motor, from being so old and filty,it foled in on it self and burned up the b/m. I asked the home owner if they changed their filter, and HE said ,and i quote, What filter:dontknow: I did not know it had a filter, they had put a book shelf in front of it, so like the saying go's pay a little now or pay me ALOT later.;)

Another reason I love this site...its not all about trucks!

Also check and make sure the supply duct dampers are open. If you have a 2 zoner like mine, that may mean a trip to the attic to visit AHU #2. On my system, they attached a plenum to the AHU and then 2 separate main trunks were extended to either end of the house. From there, flex duct was used to each room. Back at the AHU, they installed control dampers for each main -- I guess to balance air flow (?). The damper will be closed if the control rod is pointing 90 degrees in relation to the duct. Full open position has the rod pointing in line with the duct.

I asked the builder whom did the hvac work and they are coming out on tuesday to look at it. I am the second owner of the house but I am really the first to live in it. I am interested to see how big the hvac bill will be as all units are new.
