Might have the chance to pick up a new ride here next month or so. Been thinking about a used Magnum. We need something that will haul all 5 of us along with our stuff. I know it's not nearly as big as the old Denali, but hopefully it will be big enough for us.

But I do have some questions. First of all, are they really big enough for a family of 5? How much stuff can you haul in the back?

Of course I would love to grab up an SRT, but I am a little concerned with gas mileage. How good of mileage do they get? How about the Hemi? How is the power on the Hemi?

(I have read official reviews and such but want to hear from people that really know the deal)

Looking to keep it under $20k. I have seen a couple of SRT's in this range. I would love to have black, but I'm thinking silver might work better seeing as I live on a dirt road.

Any info on these cars would be appreciated.

My SRT8-300 got better gas mileage than my current AWD 5.7 300C. The SRT8 has a lot of power, the 5.7 has plenty of power too. the 3.5 feels like it lacks a little and stay away from the 2.7 if power concerns you. I love the LX platform. with the SRT8 i could get 22mpg out on the highway and averaged 18, now with the 5.7 AWD i get 15 average and 20 on the highway

Nice car but may be a little small for family of 5 even though it is a 5 seater. 3 adult size in the back would be tight for a trip. The rear is just a car trunk with more head room.....an SRT8 will get 20-22 MPG hwy...about 14-15 around town if you keep your foot out of it...of course less if you have it loaded with people and cargo..

Well the twins are 5 and the older boy is 9, so they don't take up a lot of room yet. In fact, we've been hauling the whole family around in a 99 civic 2 door! Now that's a bit tight.

Does the Charger have the same size interior?

The Charger and Magum are basically the same vehicle except for the trunk area and sheet metal. I forgot your kids are small...should work out for you.

Magnum condoms I have experience with Magnum cars not so much....:dontknow: :dontknow:

I do like 'em though.

I know they hook better than the chargers:rock: the shaggin wagon all the way. If I am not mistaken with the seats down you can fit all kinds of lumber, tools bike parts;). Cant do that in a charger.

I had a 2005 RT RWD. LOVED it and traded it for an 07 Mustang GT "vert" Really wish I had kept it but I traded the stang for the "10" so it all worked out for the good!:D The magnum was REALLY nice on trips (28MPG) and had LOTS of room in the back.

The Charger back seats fold down too...the only difference is you can stack higher in the Magnum due to the roof line....dont know about the Magnum hooking better but the Charger is quicker in the 1320 due to the Magnum weighing slightly more than the Charger & 300..

well, I bought a 300C in september. (an 06 w/ 22k miles)
Pros - comfy, roomy, trunk is enormous. the V8 has good power. mine had 22" on it and the ride is great.

cons - not much to say of, materials could be better but its a chrysler not a benz. gas mileage sucks with the hemi, I get about 18 mpg. (then again I get on it)

since september I have put 16k miles on it.

a magnum should be the same with more room.

and my wife has an 04 denali that we have had for 5 years. bought new and just turned 90k miles. that truck has been great for us.
we are going to look at an XL Denali once the adoption goes through. so its for sale!

also I havent done any mods, but I heard you can get a stage II and use premium to pick up like 30 hp.

I used to own a 06 Mag SRT-8. Rear seat leg room was cramped for taller folks. Kids should do fine. My gas mileage was decent, averaged around 19MPG. Power was dead on, hit the pedal and it went. Rear cargo was spacious and carried everything I needed (family of three though). If the car comes with a subwoofer, it can be removed for extra cargo space. If you buy a 2006 model year make sure the TSB's are up to date or at least the TSB for the coolant bottle replacement and replacement of the brake rotors are done.

My Hemi truck tows very well as far as the engine goes. Get up to the higher speeds I am turning on the Tow switch so it doesn't cycle the gears all the time.

Thanks.

You were talking about Hemi's and power? Same engine.

The wife has a Chrysler Aspen with the new 5.7 also. No lack of power with 6 of us in the vehicle.
