Any issues with changing our plugs? Any problems? I know the master cylinder looks like a pain to get around. I have some lower temp NGK Iridiums I want to install tomorrow.

very easy....hardest part is taking the plug wires off:D
Nice. BTW, I already switched to MSD wires. That was not fun with the I.M.

Wire are easy to get off the spark plugs if you use a wire puller, less than $20 bucks from Sears. They've been around forever and clamp right onto the boot. DO NOT yank on the wires!

How exactly do you go about changing the sparkplugs under the IM(Intake Manifold)? I want to change my plugs but saw the damn thing up under the IM and said forget it

put a dab of antiseize on the new plug threads, and die-electric grease inside the boot/terminals

Hey Bone,

I have lots and lots of experience with changing plugs  :D :p

If you are having issues, with plugs you have two options: 1) get a butt plug that talks when you fart or

2) grab a box of them easy glide tampons. I'm sure if you sit on it just right it will fit fine :girl: :girl: :wavey:

if not, I'm sure Mikey can ram it home for you :p :p :D in the event Mikey is already booked Includemeout can surely finish the install :D :dancing: ........... LOL

Hope this helps, It is my 20th quality post now :D :star:

i know right now i am working on changing my plugs but it seems that the individual heat shields that are around the plugs are making it incredably difficult i cant get a socket all the way down and around the plugs i was only able to get 1 out so far and that was after taking a cheap socket and grinding down the outside of it to the point if i go any thinner it will crack. any suggestions for this issue? besides the next step of trying to pull out each and every heat shield and buy new ones to replace after i do the new spark plugs?

I did the same thing. Actually, I have ground down plug socket from another engine I owned that had almost no header clearance. Are you going through the fender or from up top? Through the fender is by far the easiest.

The heat shields pull out right?

I have never taken mine out. Looks like they might pull out. They fit with my headers, so I left them alone. I just swapped my plugs with some E3's and did it with the heat shields in place.

they pull out..with some persuasion...i took mine off...and left them off...figured as aggravating as it was to get off (specially near the brake booster)...i'd just put on some heat shields later if need be...

If you remove the front wheels and wheel wells the task would be a hell of a lot easier. Those pesky heat shields come off with a slight squeeze and some wiggling. They install just as easy with a small hammer and light tapping. BEWARE PLUG WIRES 7 and 9. These are the ones by the master cylinder. Be very careful not to break the plugs or you will find yourself having to remove the intake manifold to replace the hurt plug. That isn´t any fun (unless you make for a goofy mood by wearing fuzzy pink slippers while working on your truck). But if you are removing the wheel wells plug wires 7 and 9 aren´t so bad. Make sure you blow out any carbon before removing the spark plugs.

I cheated $125 to my local Dealer for plug change with indexing... Yea I know it is the wuss way out but the only curse words I used was in paying the bill. :) :)

ok well i was checking i have a local mechanic thats real good and a friend and we where trying and couldnt get onto the plugs at all even after grounding down. and looking at the shield they looked like they where press fitted so we held off and he was going to price a new set of shields for it figuring we would break them getting them off. so figured i would ask all here since figured someone had encountered this issue lol
