Anyone have a SRT Jeep?

I hate to seem dumb but I thought you were talking about an srt 8 jeep. I did not know you were talking about a grand cherokee. LOL Have you all seen an srt 8 jeep wrangler???? I have!! Here in NC Tom (viper tech) had one in his shop to be aligned. The guy bought a 4 door wrangler and gutted it and put the srt 8 engine in it. It barely fit and looked bad ass.

The srt8 is a model option with the Grand Cherokee, it is the only jeep srt8

Beg to differ. Only factory jeep srt 8. I saw with my own eyes a wranger four door with a hemi v8 425 hp engine in it with srt 8 badging. I know I know no pics. Sorry don't carry around a camera. If I see it at the shop again will post pics.

you are correct the GC jeep is the only factory srt8, I have seen some pics of a wrangler with the 10 stuffed in, it must have some sturdy drive shafts and a whopper transfer case.

For some time now, there have been a few groups throwing hemi engines, Dana 60's, and a number of those options in wranglers....can't remember their names....I know they aren't exactly SRT's, but I'd say a good comparison....from what I understand, those that have the money say they are tons of fun.....I think they start around $40k for the conversion, but that is the engine, tranny, wiring, axles, and a host of other upgrades.....

There is a off-road group just outside the DFW area that has been putting corvette motors in jeeps for years....those are fun too....

I've seen one wrangler with a viper motor, heard there are a couple of others out there.....

Not familiar with the SRT-8, but it sounds kewl....

I bought one for my wife, and I would never buy one again.

The only positive thing I can say about it, is it's fast. That is all.

To me the truck was nicer in fit and finish. Hell, it was even quieter.

I'm going to keep it through the winter and then next spring trade it for an Infiniti FX50S. Not as fast, but a shit load nicer.

I forgot to mention. The thing has an electrical gremlin that they cannot find. Sometimes the auto function of the windows work, sometimes they don't. Same with the seat presets. Sometimes the nav system has the accept screen, sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes when you first start it, it runs rougher than hell.

POS in my opinion.

There are some electrical gremlins but there is a TSB for the windows and seats and there is an upgrade for the Nav and (Mygig with the 08)
I had the accept screen issue but that has been resolved.
The new interior in the 08 is much better IMHO and I will change out the Goodyear run flats when they are done.
But I still love driving it.

Sorry for your troubles with the Jeep. Since the day I drove mine off the showroom floor (almost 2 years ago), it has NEVER been back to the dealer.

From what I read, there is a TSB for the window auto roll up/down and memory seats.

Also TSB's for the TCM, and rear ABS...all of which I have had no issues with......yet........:slug:

hahahhahahahhahahah not a chance in hell.. this is worse than out trucks on fuel... my buddie has one and the fuel bill is retarded .. its geared for the 1/4 mile big time .. if your on the highway they rev real real real high ... id say your lucky to see 15mgp on the highway

What year is your buddies? The 08 and 09 have 3.42 gears with a 0.852 5th gear and 0.667 6th gear ratios, not sure about the earlier years, but this seem to be a good relationship of ratios to me.

GC is a great ride, and it pulls like a mofo off the line...but there is no room in it. but then again if you dont have kids who cares.

I do have a kid, thats the thing. Only one for now but she wants 3 more before she turns 30 so lots more to have. If I buy something worth this kinda money it needs to be something that we keep for a while.

he is referring to the caddy - the new caddy has a 3.42 rear end with a 6spd tranny - the previous gen caddy had a 4spd auto with a 3.73 rear end.
the jeep is a 5spd auto but i thought it had 4.10gears???

pick up a 05 caddy for cheap, and they are just about as fast as the new ones!

Not as fast as the CTS-V...but no one will tell me when the CTS-V will be available...

Just drive one and see if it works for you or not, There was a guy offering an 06 on this site (along with a 10) with low miles for around 25 K, you could do worse!

Flat out fact....

Jeep is one of the funnest vehicles Ive owned, enjoy the acceleration, enjoy the SUV room.

Cons : fuel (I knew this going in to it anyways) 10-12cty average, 13-16hwy, Windows / sunroof gremlins

Pros: Great acceleration, super easy to drive, good handling / brakes, decent room, outstanding looks, more features then I would ever want. I can fit both kids / car seats with no problems. Snow / sand etc...no problems.
