I'm looking for some opinions here.....

I've got a Ram 2500 Diesel 6 speed manual. I bought it because I wanted a manual if I was only going to have 1 vehicle (I chose it over a SRT-10 RC because I need the extra room). Since then, I bought a 99 Viper GTS. Now I think I want an automatic for my daily driver (truck) since I live in traffic central Houston, not to mention I like quick vehicles and have gotten used to the power the Viper has. My stock diesel manual is very slow in comparison.

So my question is: has anyone owned both a hemi QC and SRT-10 QC? If so, which one would you suggest I buy and why? Thanks in advance!

p.s. - I am only interested in 06 and up trucks. I will keep whatever I buy stock.

I still say the QC Srt10 is the way to go for an everyday driver in big cities especially if you drive it everyday. The Hemi can be made to go fast with a lot of mods but I would just go with the QCSrt10 If I was you.

I traded a 03 hemi Q/C in for my 05 Q/C.Although I loved my hemi the srt was an upgrade in every category.Mileage was not alot different.I was only getting 13.5 or 14 from the hemi and avg about 11 in my srt.I love the srt,its the most unique truck I have ever owned and draws alot of attention. My hemi was modified, lowered, 22 inch wheels, duals, hypertech tuner, cai.
But the srt is just a notch above.Get the Q/C.You can haul ass,( get a flash)
and haul your buddies too!!And you dont have to worry about shifting in city traffic which just plain SUCKS!!  :burnout:

I did own a SRT10 QC a yr ago..never owned a Hemi QC but have driven many..........I would definitely go with the SRT10...especially since you dont plan on modding...you will have way more power and there is not that much diff in gas mileage........plus I dont believe the SRT10 will depreciate as much as the Hemi over the next 5 yrs....providing you buy a used SRT10..

As a former Hemi QC owner, the difference in stock performance is night and day regardless of what Hemi guys want to say. The SRT will obviously hold it's value better. HEMIs are everywhere, but SRT sightings are rare. You can probably get a new, never title SRT QC in the mid $30's which is a steal over what a lot of people paid.

Eric,

These are mine.

My problem was that even though I had the SRT-10, I still needed a truck. I found that I didn't want to haul anything in the 10, so I ended up getting a Hemi Sport 4X4.

With me, the SRT-10 is not really a truck, it just looks like one.......

I can feel your pain about using it as a truck. I bought my QC for a work truck and have been sent to the priciple's office by the members for using this as a work truck. I use it for work and have had no problems with it at all. I just got good at taking off the wing on a regular basis.

I used my 2005 QC SRT10 for almost 3 years as my work truck. It hauled a lot of cargo and pulled many trailers in that time. Now I am driving a dakota for work and keeping my QC for fun driving. My QC got about the same mileage as my 2005 Hemi regular cab long bed.

Hey Eric,

I traded an 04 QC Hemi Sport in on my 05 SRT.

So the question is what do you plan to use it for. If you like getting out in the mud and hauling boats, go with the Sport

Otherwise.... SRT BABY!

There is no comparison

Jeff

Thanks for the feedback so far guys!

I will use whatever truck I buy as my "truck". I tow a 18' boat a few times a year (it usually is on the boat lift), flatbed or other utility trailer a few times a year, 42" riding lawnmower in the back quite often, other lawn equipment, coolers, tables, chairs, etc. I have a beach house I go to at least once a month year round, and the truck is always full inside and out.

I don't offroad (mud) at all, just the usual driving on grass, etc every once in a while. I drive over curbs with my current truck when necessary, but that is due to being impatient (plus my truck can do it easily). Most of the driving is stop and go traffic or highway trips.

Keep the thoughts comin'! :D

this last sunday i traded my 2005 srt-10QC in on a slt 5.7 hemi 4x4 QC and another car(srt-8 6.1)i like the new hemi it getting 24.4 mils to the gal. for the 1st 200 miles not bad for a 4x4 with big tires and it has that new mds system witch reality helps the mpg......i did like my srt-10 but i kept having things happen to the auto tranny.....i thing i may end up with the 4x4 QC and a srt-10 RC.....heres some pic's of the truck i just bought....

Gimme about $6k and I can have your Diesel running 12's in the 1/4. :D ;)

I understand what your saying, tho... Those handshakers in the diesels are a lot of work in traffic.

qc srt but i would recommend at least the dc flash not a lot of change but will open it up a lot

I have both also. The CTD for work and the SRT for the daily driver. I would rather have the SRT in Houston. BTW I hate the traffic there:D

take over my lease payments, $508/mos...I only have 13 months left, gives you a year to decide if you like it.

HAD a 2004 Hemi QC, used it to tow boats, work stuff, etc. Bought a 2005 SRT QC, and would never use it for work loads or towing. It is like a sports car in a big body, the Hemi was like a truck in all ways, slow but strong. Night and day, I wouldn't go back!

OK i have the best all worlds a SRT10 r/c,q/c 2500 5.7 hemi 8ft bed and a q/c 3500 cummins dually 8 footer as well with 617 rwhp.all 04 and if your comparing a 5.7 hemi to a srt-10, the srt-10 gets way better mpgs, im lucky to see 13 mpgs on the highway the srt get 15-16 highway all my trucks are auto except the srt... both autos had trans problems. but if you want power the srt-10 is the way to go but i know if my stock srt was goin next to my cummins with few mods, ill rip it a new a$$hole.

I TRADE MY O4 HEMI QC EVERHAM EDITION (SEE SIG. PIC) FOR MY SRT10 QC... MILEAGE PER GALLON IS ALMOST THE SAME EVERITHING ELSE IS AN UPGRADE.... GO W/ THE SRT....

CAROLINA SRT... NICE TO SEE YOU AROUND HERE SR. AND NICE HEMI... YOU OWN THE FASTES COLOR TRUCKS:D

Don't feel bad for hauling lumber around dude. I know guys who are using their SRT-10's to seal driveways out of, haul paving tools, tar kettles, etc. Now THAT'S abuse.
