Anyone removed the cab before?

Doesn't look like it was that hard. How long did it actually take once you realized what needed to be done?

Only about 4 hours, but I already have the radiator out prior, and then some other stuff I have moved over the years too. Most of the time was trying to find the right blocking and place to lift the body so the hoist arms would pass the frame.

I can tell you for the time spent doing this, it will save me twice the time and back aches if I did it without removing the cab. I can get right in there on a rollie chair, its really nice. I have most the engine comparment gutted already.

Interesting thread...try it...:elefant::elefant:as I recall that is what the factory does...lift the cab after disconnecting everything:elefant::elefant: from the firewall...would love to learn what is required to do it.

hell ya have to on any of the furd power strokes, 7.3, 6.0 & 6.4. P.O.S.:toilet::toilet::mad:

Where are you going to put everything? Looks like you have a good start on the black Venom truck you posted earlier in the thread.

The ECU will go in the same place as the Black Venom truck.
All the wires will be hid throughout the cowl and inner fender areas
The fuse panel Im not 100% sure yet where it will go, possibly in the cab either under the dash or behind a seat.
The A/C will be totally removed.
Frame will get detailed.
Exhaust will get V-banded style connections.
And some other stuff as I go.

I built some wheels for the cab:

Then I stopped taking pictures and now its basically done. Still a little bit to do though to finish it up. I wish this picture was zoomed out a little more to show the sides of the engine compartment to show that there is nothing there at all. Ill take another shot tomorrow, with a better camera this time too.

Here is a picture taken a few years ago, look at the factory mess compared to what it looks like now in the picture above. Was it worth my time to do this? I hope so, it took a few hours to get to this point. The cab removal and install was easy compared to re-routing the wires. The hardest part was trying to decide how to run them, not actually doing it (although it was very time consuming).

Dude, you are insane. I am way beyond impressed. Props to you and please keep the pictures coming.

That is crazy. Looks wicked, good job. I'd say from the looks alone it was more than worth your time.
