hey bucke, yeah maybe 04s' are a little different:dontknow: there is a bolt that runs through the center of bottom plate that evidently keeps leaves in-line. when you add the block, that bolt is to short now:dontknow: here is a pick of the center bolt on another application, it holds the plate and leaves against the axle tube.

take a look at this picture. you can see the bolt does not go through the bracket on the axle. 04-05-06 have the same set-up..

well.. maybe take a pic tommorrow when i tackle the other one. your diagram shows the u-bolts upside down:2in1: i had to remove the center nut to get the bottom plate off.
 
look at the center bolt/nut in the pic..it goes all the way through the leaf pack and is attached to the axle tube..any body else have this set-up?

It shouldn't attach to the axle tube it just goes through the leaves holding them together. Once you get the U-bolts tightened up you should be able to get the center nut back on.

what year do you have? i'm thinking this is an 04' issue:(
