What Auto security system would you consider the best.....

Park it in your garage or shop when you can, anytime else if they want it they will take it now matter what security system you have. I know thats not what you wanted to hear but?

I dont know bud, I do know there are tons out there, but the ones that are really really good, get expensive, but end the end all can be had, but they are a great deterent.

yeah still looking at them myself seen a couple interesting options but havent found anything really good yet. 1 i found actually hooked into like 20 different items of the vehicle and created a basic key you had to put in to create all the connections. that so far is one of the betters i have seen let me see if i can find the site.

this is the one they key has the wire connections in it so vehicle cant be started unless it is plugged in and then allows you to start with your key. its one idea and seems pretty good no remotes nothing that someone can simply snag the code with a scanner. plus the plug is small so you could hide it in a lot of places my thought was replace cig ligther with it its low and set back into the dash easy enough to take old cig liter and fab it into a cover instead so you can even cover it so it continues to look like a cig lighter

I remember reading somewhere that almost every system can be hacked in one way or another, and the only reliable solution was GPS and a pager, if the alrm went off the pager notified you, and with the gps the vehicle could be located, that is if the person didnt remove the beacon

I dont worry bout mine , mine sits in the garage usually with something off of it the brake lines have been off for a month, the def wouldnt get far

i like the viper with the two way remotes. it lets you know whats going on with your truck, if something does happen and it also has the fuel shut off. so if someone does hotwire it it wont run but a few secs.

ill tell ya what, when i worked at the junk yard we had to start every car that came in. on ewas a 06 cadillac. we had no key and i got it running in 4 minutes. without the key those cars are "unstartable" but if ya know wiring, its easily bypassed. the only real safe way is gps tracking so when it is stolen, you can find it. cause if someone wants it bad enough, they will have it. look at these repo men, they steal cars in under 30 seconds. a robber can do tht then take your truck to a safe location and get into it at his lesiure

Somebody before was gonna or did install a hidden button you would have to click on to start the truck. Lets face it, if a pro wants to steal our truck, they probably can and will. But its the f#ckstick kids/punks that we can avoid.

How does somebody steal a truck without a key to start it? Can you rip up the steering column and steal it? I thought they wouldn't run without the proper coded key?

you cross 2 wires. some manufatcurers use 4. some 3. each manufacturer uses the same color ones one all their cars too. say dodge is black, black/green, and gm uses white, white green. (note these are not the colors, dont try this with these wires). it took me years to learn all the secrets, but imo it was knowagle no book could teach me. when my dad lost the keys top my hemi in nyc, he got a key cut but needed to bring the truck to the dealer to get the chip made. the key would unlock it, and turn the ignition on, but it wouldnt run. you should have seen the look on the service techs face when we drove it in to get the key programmed

Depends on what you are trying to protect. The factory system works great if you ask me. I installed security systems professionally for over 4 years in cars and trucks and they all pretty much do the same. The two way alarms are nice, but in the end if they want something out of your car they will get it. Just make sure you have a good insurance policy that will cover any stolen items and GAP insurance on your truck if the entire truck gets stolen, which is almost impossible without the key. Tint the windows and always lock the doors and hide all your valuables and you'll be good. I stopped installing after market systems for security years ago now I just install them for convenience items such as remote start or window roll up.

If you do decide to install an after market system make sure the unit itself has a battery backup and install no less than 4 sirens inside the cab under the dash to make the sound so unbearable you won't want to be inside the truck if they are trying to steal something. All alarms pretty much use the same siren and I can't see that stopping a thief from popping the hood and cutting the wires once inside.

Also keep in mind that you can spend more than your insurance deductible on a system and to me thats what insurance is for, again just make sure you have the extra coverage incase something does happen. Cheers!

yeah reason i like the one i posted you actually would have to trace out all the wires to beat it is it beatable yes but its going to take them time probably well over an hour without the specialized key even if you have the key to the truck it wont start steal braided cover goes from back of unit to under the hood where it runs all black wires so no color coding to figure out. and it takes circuits from the panel under the hood re routes them and hides where they come from to the panel.
