Smart Shift

After spending thousands of dollars upgrading every aspect of your hot rod, muscle car or off-road truck, why settle for an old-fashioned shifter? Now you don’t have to. Smart Shift from RetroTek Speed is the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and retro style. A push-button control panel allows you to shift virtually any domestic automatic transmission with digital precision. Ugly shifters and hard-to-route cables are a thing of the past.

Based on RetroTek’s unique, award-winning technology, the Smart Shift system consists of three major components: the backlit billet keypad, a cutting-edge main controller, and the compact actuator. The waterproof compact main controller has been tested on every popular domestic automatic transmission, and is also compatible with electronic transmissions like the 4L60E. The back lit custom billet keypad can be mounted anywhere vertically or horizontally, built-in LED lights indicate transmission status, and a simple 13-pin harness allows all seven keys to be remotely mounted (like behind a torque-flight juke-box or flush-mounted in a dash). Coated for moisture resistance, the high quality push button switches are rated at over 1-million cycles.

Finally, the custom actuator was designed by RetroTek to work with over 20 domestic transmissions. The actuator is extremely durable, and shifts are perfectly timed and in-sync with the Trans. All mounting hardware is included, and a simple pan-rail design allows for two-bolt installation. The compact Smart Shift system is also compatible with the heavy-duty gear boxes and transfer cases found in off-road racing and rock-crawling, and Smart Shifts have been installed in several pre-runner and trophy endurance race trucks.

The result: a slick push-button electronic shifter that installs in minutes, shifts instantly, allows endless installation possibilities, and is durable enough to withstand the rigors of racing.

Well...that's defintiely interesting...you gonna call them and see if it'll work?

Already did. It is just like you said Steve. It is not designed to work with a Airbag steering wheel. The paddle portion of it anyway, is not.

paddle shifters

i wouldn't mind putting on an aftermarket steering wheel to accomandate those paddles. i've driven a couple vechicles with paddles and it's very dominating to control the shifting on autotrans. who needs air bags anyway:dontknow: IMO, I am going for aftermarket steering wheel and paddles.

I have sent them a email and am waiting for there reply

I am waiting for their reply from my email ---may call them to get the info ..

I personally would like the paddle shifter but the push button may be the alternative

I thought mine was a B & M but it's a Hurst V-Matic. If someone wants it to give this a try I'll make a good deal on it. I will likely never get around to this...

I asked for pics years ago, he's still working on them. Stinker is still trying to put a roll of 35mm film in his digital camera

:D
:p :p :p :p :p

my puter crashed potty head, I shall again resume the search:D

Mine memory is as long as my peter................................ get it?

The floor shifter isnt bad, pick one out ya like , or get steves, position it where ya want it, cut a hole in the floor, run the cable:D

Lets see , trying to remember, I did change the lever in the tranny with one that came with the shifter, I had bought a hurst auto shifter for the dodge tranny.
You may, if I remember correctly have to cut off parts of the lip of the pan, I think.
but the adjustment was the worst pain, if you want your digi readout to read perfrctly, it takes a tad of adjusting to fine tune it.

Actually removing the stock lever was the hardest part,

Now the tow haul switch will slide out the end of the lever, then I drilled an mounted it in the dash, and reran the wiring also.

but the colum covers had to be taken off, and honeslty:D I brutally removed the lever!LOLOL It had a couple little hikkys that pissed me off;)

Then if you want it finished looking, just get the covers for a RC and good to go.

I'm headed to NY and do another go round before turky fartin day:D but should be home by wed, I will do my best to see if I kin find dos pics:D
