Just thinking or maybe reaching but what if I were to get the transmission, electronic transfer case and front differential off a 2006 Ram 2500 and mate it to my 2006 QC. Since the 06's are on a 2500 chassis, I figure it should be an easy swap. I know the front spindles are already off a 4X4. Do you think there would be any issues with the brakes or my current suspension setup. My next questions would be whether or not the transfer case and front differentials are up to the task? Would the running gear live on 4 wheel high down the track? I think this would solve all traction issues.

thats a question probably only could be answered by trying it. i know the duramax's were prone to folding the a-arms in 4 high leaving the line. im sure it would have to be beefed up. i doubt a stock chunk could handle it.it the front slipped and the back didnt sumthing probably would end up breaking.

I saw a picture of a (lifted :argh: ) 10 with AWD before, don't remember if it was here, guess so. Sure doable but gonna be costly I'm sure.

Planning to do a 4 wheel burnout ?

it could be done you just gott beef it up and get the measurements right so that way the driveline wont have anymore problems besides breaking

would be very cool to see an AWD Burnout in a SRT10  then twin turbos would be even better for you guys :D

It would definitely not be a bolt in deal, lots of custom fabrication! Its been discussed before on the forum also, there may be some info in the thread, its been a while.

Well I am building a V-10 to put into my 01 Durango and it will use it's AWD transfer case with upgraded hummer H1 components to handle the additional TQ (nv242 with 242AMG upgrades).

You may want to do some more checking but I don't believe any of the Ram 2500's ever came with an AWD transfer case (aka full time 4wd).

The 2500's transfer cases can handle almost 200% more TQ than the one used in mine however you lose the ability for AWD but gain 2WD mode. Running down the track with the front and rears locked together can cause some serious binding issues if there is any difference in your tire sizes. The benefit of AWD is it is an open diff and dosen't experience binding. You do have to worry about snapping the chain in there though.

Just a thought and wondering if anyone had ever contemplated such a thing. I had an 05 Hemi QC which was awd drive but I believe the transmisson was different.

lots of modding. 2500 4wd uses worm and sector gear box vs the 2wd's using rack and pinion. i dont think it would be an easy task by any means. you would also be added a lot of weight. dont think you would benefit much by doing this

There is a guy who races a 4x4 dodge cummins in 4 wheel drive who runs in the 10's. He has drag radials all the way around. Don't know what mods he made to his truck but I bet he spent a lot of $$$$$$.

Check out this months Diesel Power Magazine shows about 10 1/4mile setups from Cummins and others. Several of them are in the 10's some are using 4WD others 2WD.

I think weight would be the killer. the amount of money you would invest in a awd system you could make a badass 4 link and tub the bed. But an awd srt10 would definatly be sweet to do. just my .02

werent there some magnum hemi's that were AWD ? imagine dropping a v10 in one of those....

Yes, all of the lx's had an availble awd. I dont think the front diff or transfer case could stand up to the torque of a viper motor.

do it!...post up the pics...take it to the track...then tell us what broke...

then fix it...repeat...!!!

plus...maybe lift it a bit...22" mud terrains...see where it leads..!!!
