The law was trying to catch anyone they could that day. There were over 250 cars from Houston on Galveston Island (where this picture was taken). I think they were more interested in getting people off their island. But if we were actually caught our arses would have been in the sling.

The road is banked like that because that's how that particular stretch of road was built. Here's some pictures of that stretch of road in Galveston. We call it Cherry Hill.
