I write this with a heavy heart, we lost TWO guys from my unit this past week. SPC Simpson, and SPC Ridgle. Spc Simpson was killed during an altercation in a club and from what I gather, he caught a stray bullet. Died more than likely from a couple of dudes fighting over a girl and most def drunk. He was only 21 and was working towards a degree. His sister is also in my unit, well a detachment of our unit, in the mess section.

Spc Ridgle was a great friend of mine. We were together in Afghanistan and what happened was he ran off the right side of the road on his Harley, hit some gravel/dirt, and went head to head with a Tahoe in the other lane. He died instantly. He had 3 kids and a wife.

We lost 2 Soldiers in a few days. And I lost 2 brothers. All I can ask is that if you do pray, pray for the families that are dealing with this. This is literally the worst news Ive ever gotten outside of combat.

Its times like this that I ask all bullshit be put aside. Its very sobering how quick life can be taken from us. RIP my brothers. My heart is broken.

I'm sorry to hear about this Chris.

Yea it sucks. Of course it wont really hit me until weeks later when I see something that reminds me of them.

God Bless

As someone who has also lost very close friends,..... I am very sorry for your loss.

Thanks, it sucks for me of course, but "me" isnt important. Just pray man, it still hasnt hit me yet. Still in shock I guess. I cant even handle the reality of whats goin on right now. I just keep thinking about those kids who lost their father. And the family who lost their aspiring son. Just pray.

I lost 2 friends whom I used to ride motorcycles with. I know how you feel, it's going to hit you like ton of bricks. Just hang in there bro.

I am sorry about your loss. I know exactly what you are going through, this past Sunday I got news that a very close cousin of mine passed away in a motorcycle accident while riding at pismo beach sand dunes. He went off a 30 ft drop at about 25-30 mph and was killed istantly on impact. He was only 19 years old. All we can do is pray for them and there family.

RIP. Sorry for you loss and I can't imagine what their families are going through at this time. They were hero's to most, father, uncle, son and husband. They will be missed forsure from all

Certainly both incidents are terrible news. My condolences to the families, loved ones and friends they left behind. It's always comforting to know that they are in a better place when compared to the cruel world we occupy.... A world on an imminent path to Hell in a hand basket as far as I’m concerned. The stray bullet situation in a club with SPC Simpson is what I don't get. Why would someone be carrying a weapon in a club or establishment where alcoholic beverages are consumed? Whatever the reason that shot rang out I don't think it was justified for any human life to be taken. And for a shot to be discharged it can only mean it was intended to terminate SOMEone. For it to be an innocent bystander just makes it that more worse. I don't know why there's such a blatant disregard for life. Wasn't there a case recently where two young teens in D.C. attempted to mug a mother with her less than 12 month old baby? Yeah, and when she refused to give in they shot and killed her baby on the spot before fleeing... Okay so they were caught but still, WTH are people thinking these days?

I'm sorry for the rant guys, I'm just so sick of the senseless deaths by the hands of another whether intentional or due to reckless behavior. And, of course, my apologies to VT. I don’t mean my rant to take away from SPC Simpson’s and SPC Ridgle’s unfortunate incidents. Fellow servicemen in your unit are like family, perhaps closer as you can often encounter difficult situations with only each other to depend on. I pray that you find salvation from your broken heart bro.

RIP. I'll pray for the family's and I'll pray for you too. Losing someone close can be one of the most difficult things we face. When it finally hits you, we'll be here for you.

I'm not a religous man by any stretch but think tonight will say a pray,I'm sorry for your loss it does put life into perspective when I hear stuff like this as to how lucky and thankfully we should be for the gift of life.
