Bad Pinion Angle Damage???

Lowered the truck and realized the pinion angle was all wrong. I drove it 2100 miles on a trip and now I'm wondering if the vibration was actually causing rear end damage. Your thoughts?

I've experimented much with pinion angle and I did eat a rear end pinion yoke. It was like $40 for new Spicer yoke. If you remove shaft and look closely to where u joint sits in yoke (ears) , observe any wear from the vibration.
 
Mine only seems to vibrate when 90mph+

Still gotta get mine fixed too.

Thanks that doesn't sound like a major surgery. I'll make sure to tell the shop to check for that and repair if required.
 
How much lowering is o/k before I have to use wedges to correct angle? Does anyone have experience with this?

I don't like to use wedges honestly. If a RC then a block with correct degree angke is preferred, on a QC I like to tack weld flip kit to rear at correct pinion angle. :rock:

Glad you said that...I just purchased a shim but the shop I'm using recommended doing exactly what you said. Thanks Scott!!
 
Scott, how forgiving is your one piece drive-shaft? What are the benefits to changing over?

It's the best you can put in a QC sir! Benefits are lighter rotating mass (weight), no more carrier bearing, severe duty u joints, firmer transmission shifts as the slack of two piece shaft and rubber isolated carrier bearing are removed. Win-Win-Win :rock:
 
Best u-joint for an 04 RC? Part numbers? Doing a pinion seal soon and may as well replace them. Also I have 1 3/4" rear blocks, should all be ok????? Been on for a year or so, maybe 3,000 miles......

You'll only have 1 driveline angle to deal with instead of 2 with the stock shaft
I have 1 3/4" leveling blocks on order, are they bevelled or should I be worried?

All the blocks available for our trucks are straight, trainman checked the pinion angle on his stock truck and it was less than optimal, there is a thread on it somewhere, adding a block just makes it that much farther off
