Bang for the buck??

Hey Bro,

I was Upset too when I first got mine. After the Stage 2 Flash from Dc I was all Smiles. It is a Must for the Quads for sure. It is Detuned from the factory.

I am new 06 srt10 QC owner and looking for some input. I must say I am a little un-impressed with the performance of the truck stock. It seems there is somthing holding the truck back?! I would of guessed the thing to be a tire fryer before actually driving it. After spending a few nights on this forum it seems the DC computer is overall the best bang for the buck mod for the qc?

Help me out let me know if I am on the right track?

Also on a side note, I must say the fuel economy is better than I would of guessed. I got a little over 14mpg on my trip home with the truck, and then roughly 12mpg with mixed driving my second tank. Sure it's no hybrid but all in all it isn't horrible.

thanks for any input you guys to lend,
James

Before I bought my truck, I test drove both the Quad Cab and the Regular Cab. The QC that I drove was definately more slugish. At the time, I attributed it to the extra weight of the QC. It may also be detuned to protect the automatic transmission. The RC on the other hand seemed to be much crisper in acceleration.

BTW, I get 10-11 MPG in local driving.... Never had it on the interstate enough to know what MPG I would get there.

-tday.

Welcome...Unimpressed huh?..what other 5000 lb vehicle have you driven that comes close to the performance of your QC?..
Geez..some people are so picky...lol..just kidding..

Welcome to the forum. The flash pcm are the best thing to get and it will wake up your QC a lot. Next mod you can do are cat-delete and magnaflow exhaust.

OK when people do a cat delete they put in a mid pipe? Is that like an empty cat?

Is it pretty much plug and play sensor wise? Or do you have to do some crap so the MIL doesnt come on?

I personally like stock so to eliminate all the mod frustration, I just bought a RED one :D

Welcome and I hope you like lots of opinions :D :D :D

Mid-pipes are the ones that go from the exhaust manifold to the muffler. An empty catalytic converter can cause turbulence.I would just buy a set of catless mids or a high flow cats in new mids. You can have your PCM programmed for the cat-delete and not throw codes or use electronic or mechanical simulators. Most are going with mechanical now (I have electronic). It is plug and play.

Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks for all the great replies. I am looking forward to the flash, and mid pipes. I have found tons of posts about the catless, but who makes a good highflow catted mid pipe?

Thanks again, looking forward to more info.
