BBK Throttle Body Dyno Results.....Amazing

I wonder what gains would be seen with FI?.....

That will depend on just how big the FI setup is.

Stock engine w/ a Paxton, most certainly.

Over the top engine w/ F2 Procharger? A single-blade TB would probably do even better than a slightly larger two-blade, although likely shifting peak numbers to a higher RPM range.

i think i got zero from the xmetal one i have,,as long as results arent inflated it looks promising

The results are what they are. BBK wanted as close to the same engine temp for both throttle bodies for accurate results. The truck sat all day wednesday while they formed the linkage from the position on the stock throttle body, then they re-installed the stock throttle body and made the dyno runs from a dead cold engine (with proper warmup, of course) for the stock baseline numbers. The dyno runs were made back-to-back, never turning the truck off, until the numbers started to fall slightly, then we recorded the best run. After the stock dyno , the BBK throttle body was installed ( about 4:30 PM ) and the truck was left to sit and cool overnight. Then thursday morning ( the temp outside was only a few degrees different than the afternoon before ) with the truck still strapped to the dyno, the same procedure was used as the day before. The truck was warmed up, dynoed with back to back succesive pulls until the numbers started to drop. A total of 6 pulls were recorded with the BBK (no cool down between runs) and the 5th pull was the best. We compare those results with the best numbers from the previous day.

any dates on when ready

Not at this time. Brian at BBK shot some video of the Dyno pulls and throttle body linkage...he said they may have the video up on their BBK website in about a week or so. I would imagine it will be a little while longer for them to actully finish the linkage and gear up for mass production. I will post as soon as I know something.

i can't wait either. the BBK & a Roe SCT. i will be set .....for a bit, lol.

it didn't show a loss anywhere?? thats great, anyone know if there is a comparison like this with single blade TB's??

i would like to see a picture of this before it is mounted and on a vehical

Yes, the CAI tests on our trucks have shown negligible impact, or even a loss. But sound and bling are enhanced.

I have the Roe TB, I don't think that Sean ever made a hp claim...and I don't recall anyone ever testing the difference.

My understanding of single-blade throttle bodies is that they MAY give a few HP,but that isn't what the main design is all about.

It is about throttle response.

Due to its unrestricted flow,it responds very quickly. It will probably give a few HP at higher RPMs for the same reason.

And they look waaaaaaaaay better than stock !

I fully agree with your position!

Sounds like a nice mod to go along with the intake ;)

I lost 10rwhp and 15ft lbs when I installed a single blade TB. After about a dozen dyno runs, gave up on trying to get that power back. It looks like these engines are very sensitive to flow rates. I would geuss my ported heads and cam may have impacted the results.

So that's why I got a great deal on a X-metal TB! LOL!:D

If I could get my hands on one I could do a back to back with a X Metal as I own a dynojet dyno and do my own tuning so it would be apples to apples. I'm game as soon as the are available!

I would very much like to see the results of such a test.

Bill.

:dito: like yesterday

I want to get mine dynoed again with my modified stock TB to see if I gained or lost anything over the X-Metal.
