Been Trying To Get A Picture for a Month...

I love the wildlife...we feed birds, and one of the side benefits is that we are now beginning to see many more predator birds (hawks, owls, etc.) we are placing some Kestrel nest boxes and bat houses this spring...last year we put out blue bird boxes and had two blue bird nests and one house swallow nest...

A month or two ago we saw a bob cat, (we have lots of coyotes), and it was one only two or three bob cat sightings in the past two or three years locally. Chicago is very close, so it is really exciting to see the resurgence of wild animals here.

Christine says we spend a couple of hundred dollars a month feeding the birds, but it is really worth every cent.

Yer making me miss living in the mountains.... Living close to nature was some one the best time in my life.... I wish Lynette could take the cold weather....

Here's some shots of the two places I lived in Colorado. One is up the Frying Pan River at 7 castles above Basalt, Co and the bow tie shaped cabin was up Castle Creek, near Aspen.

Now, Im fkn homesick....sitting at home...wtf?

The doe's are in larger and larger herds the past week or so...I get 15 or 20 at a time two or three times a night...but the big bucks are still pretty elusive.

:D I can't believe I wrote that. That's what happens when you try to multi-task work with play. Good thing that was here and not in a bar. Mikey would get jealous.

Got the tail end of a coyote last night...lots of doe's...but I think the bucks have dropped their antlers and now are mixed in with the doe's...hence the larger herds...

Do you have wild boar in the area at all. Too bad you didnt get the full shot of the coyote

No boar...that I know of (hunted javelina when I was in college in Texas!)...we have seen a bob cat, lots of red fox, and there are reports (actually one was shot last year) of cougars moving back in...Chris sees coyote almost every morning when she walks the dog...

I love having the wildlife moving back in...and we are only 45 minutes north of downtown Chicago!

pretty neat devise:rock:
