Beltronics V965 Vector Radar and Laser Detector on sale

I compared the 965 to my V-1.

For K-band, there is a radar setup on the street on the way to work. From both directions, the V-1 picked up the signal about 100 feet prior to the 965. However, both at quite some distance from the transmitter.

For KA-band, we have a MMw prox detector on base. Once again, the V-1 picked up the signal slightly before the 965, but not by much. Maybe 50 feet.

X band it was about the same for both.

What the hell is the POP for and why do you have to turn it on separate? Seems like it should be on all the time.

It is a burst mode (milliseconds) of transmission. However, it is not an accurate reading of speed (some legal issues in some states using it).

I don't know what you are asking about turning it on separately?

If you read the manual you have to turn it on under the DFT section. Same place you turn on the SWS.

I have it enabled. But I don't have to turn it on separately each time.

When I bought my Passport X50 8500, I had to manually turn on the POP function as well. I didn't like that.

Same with mine, just didn't understand why you would have to turn it on. Would it not get picked up normally?

My guess is an extra processing circuit. Just like European Ku band. Might as well have it disabled if you don't need it. Save processing speed would be a guess; ie. only process what you need to look for.

For 90 buck radar detector, I am very impressed with it. Good for a second truck/car detector/daily driver. Went thru X, K, and Ka again an hour ago coming home. Picked them all up again, same places.

I can dim mine but I can not get the display to turn off completely. The manual says you can and refers to the programming section but in that section there is nothing there about having the display completly off.

Anyway to dim the remote display?

My remote doesn't dim. However, it is not in my line of sight. Non-issue for me at least.

The radar detector can go to dark mode where you barely see two letters for the mode and no warning indications flash up or light up. I would be surprised if anyone can see that even standing behind your truck.

Bone and Flying Low. Now that you mention it, I am not sure if the remote does dim:dontknow: Maybe tomorrow I will call the Beltronics dealer to see if it can be programmed to do so.

Put a piece of tape over it? Just like the displays in the jet. Night vision at its best!

I forgot. Just to give you guys an idea (probably too late) You can take the little remotes apart (we used to) and mount the led in the gauge cluster. Hell anywhere for that matter. Just a thought.
