ever since its gotten cold every time I have started the truck the belts squeek. But as soon as it warms up it stops. The truck only has 15000 on it. Is it time to get the belts changed? They dont look like they need to be or is this a common thing

Thanks
Tony

first off take it to the dealer and have them check the pulley's to see if ones cracked, there were a few problems with that and the crank bolt backin out.'

but it also possible for the belt needing changed, sometimes just depends on the climate its driven in, sometimes you will see cracks in the belt or little shiny spots.

Sounds like a loose belt, changing the belt isn't a bad idea if it hasn't been done before. I see this all the time when people don't bother to warm their vehicles up and just go right away.

My one car i've changed the belts three times and it's got around 241,000 km.

My car or truck never squeel and it's roughly 14 Farenheit tonight.. and it's a warm night!

Man 75!!! I wish there was a oilfield job in California. I really doubt they'd pay me the same I make here though.

wow thanks guys. I always let her warm up for about 20 minutes every time, but I will take it to the shop on monday to see if its serious.

It was about 15 degrees this morning and mine squealed like a little pig for about 2 mins before she quit. Got to let them warm up before driving.

my vehicle squeals when i first start it,then quiets down until i reach higher rpms and it squeals again.any suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My truck made alot of noice from the belt so i just change it..
It is relly easy to do and you dont need any special tools...

Get this looked at! It could be the crank pulley. This was a problem witht hese trucks. Mine did it when I bought it and I took it in to the dealer and the Viper tech replaced all pulleys and belt. No more squeek for the last 8k miles.

today i sprayed some wd 40 on the idler pulley or i think it is the idler pulley{it is right under the throttle body}but anyways i did that and it went away for a minute or so and came back.
i checked the crank shaft pulley and bolt all ok not loose.
so i am thinking it is the idler pulley, has anyone ever had that problem.

dude 20 mins? thats a huge waste of gas. you only need about 60 seconds.
