Got up feeling kinda sick, off to work. Gave dad a call and he was going for breakfast for fathers day brunch in town. Wish i coulda went but I had to work. So the day goes on, I take his new quad he got dirty working on the farm. take it to my house 4 miles away change the oil, and feel good i did a deed he didnt want to do for him. So after we wrap up and clean everything up one of my best friends grabs my year and 2 month old boxer for me and throws him in the box of his 1 ton ford diesel. I jump on the quad and begin to drive it back to the farm. We are 3.5 miles into our drive when he jumps on the roof of the truck!! never before has he done this then he gets back into the box. next time he gets on the roof, then ONTO HIS HOOD!!!! I stop and grab him to take him with me on the quad. He runs off and tries to catch my buddy and when i go to turn the quad around and follow him I see the worst thing ever in my life. My boxer Diesel had been ran over. I went to pick him up and hold him for his last couple of breaths trying to help. Theres nothing I can do but hold him tight and wish for him to come back. I take him home and lay him on the grass and grab my g/f. We cried for an hour and wrapped him up in his favorite blanket and gave him his ball so we can take him to the vet for cremation tommorrow. I cant beleive this fathers day I lost one of my best friends

I am so sorry so for your loss... It's sheer hell and I wish it on no one....

Please use all the caution and care you can with your pets.... Maybe even keep them inside all vehicles...protected, as you are.... Or at the very least, they should be teathered into the box so that they can't get out of the bed. I apologize for the admonition.... But dogs are still impulsive, dumb animals. And it is our control and protection over their environments that protects them from harm.....

I weep for you and for your precious pup.... This kind'a thing really makes me so sad inside..... It makes my heart sick....

God bless you...God bless your Dad. Diesel awaits your return at your heavenly home. He is no longer hurting or in pain. R.I.P., dear friend....

I hate to hear that Luke. Sorry for your loss. Sounds like he meant a lot to yall.

Very sorry to hear this, dogs are so loving and loyal, they become such close friends. I know exactly how you feel. My thoughts are with you.

People without pets never understand the pain,

thank goodness there are alot of us who do. My sincere condolences.

I'm very sorry to hear about this, I lost my best friend, Fox, this way and it is terrible. It is like losing a family member, and in some cases worse.

My condolences,
Russell

RIP Diesel :( and may God bless you Luke ..............

Well that sucks. Really sorry to hear this.

However I have to echo Tim's words of wisdom. Don't let your animals ride loose in the back of trucks. I have seen to many dogs die this way. And it's truely a shame, as it did not need to happen.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I feel your pain, I lost one of my boxer's a couple of years ago. They are truly amazing dogs.
